Just started in on this. I have X2, but never played it. I did play X1. Hopefully I'll get over my dislike for lack of physics in a game like this. I will try once more.

In case anyone cares, StarForce does not load if you patch it to 2.5

X3 Terran Conflict is out too, but that is infected with Tages. They plan to remove the copy protection on that too in time, so I'll wait for the bargain bin on that one too.

Yup I have them two. X2 was damb good for its time. I loved the split capital ships look.

X3R the argons ships look good. So does the human ones.

X3TC I'm waiting for some more patches to finish up the before I take it seriously. I have it just haven't used it yet. Graphics are awesome though...

They will eventually remove the DRM soon. Cool thing about Egosoft and Deepsilver there not anything like EA. :yeah:

No, Dowly, don't encourage necromancy

X3 Terran Conflict just had the 2.1 update added to it. Game's really been improved a ****load since it was released, I'd go get it if I were you.

But...that would mean all the relevant information will be conveniently grouped together....what will be of civilization?

X3 Reunion is great with the XTM mod. :)

Can you still have cockpits with XTM? If there are no cockpits, I probably don't want it. I hate 3rd person space combat. You need to feel like you are there.

I have to say I've never much worried about cockpits, you still feel you are there as the cameras are generally positioned where the cockpit on the ship is, not floating out in space.

As for XTM personally I don't use it. Its not a bad mod, but I don't much care for how certain new features are scripted in. Using them can be some what reality jarring. I don't blame them for it (no other way of doing what they wanted realy) but not my cup of tea either. Also modding it to my tastes was going to take months and months with all the ships and changes and calculations.

I use my own personal X3R mod with about 30 different scripts, XXL Factories, and my own ship and weapon mod (i rebalanced all the ships and stations and weapons, and changed how they fly around), plus some custom ship variants (TS M6, and some others). The rebalance involved calculating out based on race and variant type all the ships with most of the stats for each ship. Took me 6 months to calculate and make the changes :o

Anyhow good that your trying it out.

Well it wasn't 8 hours a day 5 days a week, but around 150 hours roughly in total over a 6 month period.

Funny though, that you didn't notice til now that I am fairly sick :DL

Modding for me is pretty much a hobby. I mod any game I play that can be modded just about. Virtually none of my mods see the light of day. I'm a stats/code monkey, not a graphics artist, so I often borrow from other mods. I spend almost as much time modding games as I do playing em.

I played X3 reunion for quite a while had a pretty decent empire built up but just kind of lost interest in it.

I did see the new release was out but havent heard much about it yet.

Tell Ban Danna I said hey.

See you in about 12months Subman :DL

Haven't played X3 but if its the same as X2 then expect the game to run as if it was like a time machine running on 1+ into the future and -2 in the past - took yonks to get ahead. I ended up grabbing a trainer and giving myself billions that helped abit.

I have played all of them, but, apart from the very first (XBTF) which I actually finished :haha: I have never been able to make that much progress; the best I ever got was to be the owner of three factories (wow!) - that was back in X-Tension - probably because I prefer the custom game where you start out with a Buster and a few credits and not much else. That means a long slow trudge to build up enough to start making your mark. The game has changed a quite a bit through the years, but mostly for the better, I think

Subman, they did away with cockpits, but there was a mod which enabled you to get them back, maybe that is still going...
