Afternoon all
I just want to know if any of you know the figures (km worth) for a FULL tank of diesel at patrol's start?.I know how to calculate my own fuel consumption at different speeds for certain periods of time, but its the full tank that interests me,for my own personal reasons :03:
Looking through uboat.net I have the figures for a type IIA,which read about 1600 miles ( approx 2575 km) at 8kts.Now I have burned almost 50% in my IIA already, and can still get about 3000 km (approx 1875 miles) at 10kts.
A fuel list for the UBoats found in the game would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Just thinking,if I cant get results at a dead stop, maybe a fuel test at 1kt?,that would give practically a full tank reading? :know:
How far you can go depends on the speed you move at. To find out with a full tank I suggest you do it right after moving out of dock/port, or make a test mission in the editor with perfect weather. Just accelerate to some speed (click on the speed dial) and ask the navigator for maximum range when it has settled (a couple of times to average). Then increase a knot further and ask again until you know for the full speed range. IIRC the most economic speed is at 7 knots in a type-2. Also the effective endurance depends on the weather (windspeed/waves). And you shouldn't have the batteries charging aswel. The real life figures from Uboat.net have no meaning in the game. Especially since the maximum range has been extended in GWX to account for the flat earthmodel in the game, specifically so it can spend realistic patroltimes at the higher lattitudes.
Going slow is wasting fuel, as wel as going fast. In between there is a 'maximum range'-sweetspot.

Using the VIIC as a test bed i had made a fuel consumption graph in Microsoft excel.
however the file had since been deleted.
fuel range is at its best at around 8 to 9 knots for the VIIC but i dont recall the range number for GWX3. (it was around 19,000 KM or more)
if you are on the surface and recharging, this number is cut in half as one engine is disconnected from the prop shaft and used to run at Flank Speed to recharge the batteries.
the range profile was a bell curve, with 8-9 knots yielding the best range.
extreme slow speeds and extreme high speeds gave the worst performance range
