checked if the file is set to read only? If you've installed to program files vista auto protects everything and makes life a pain in the ass to put it mildly.

Is your install outside of the program and program (86) files?

And, are you trying to edit the .cfg´s in the program folder or the .cfg´s in your Documents\SH3 folder?

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies.
I have admin privilages and i am trying to edit the .cfg files for submarines, planes and cargo vessels etc. Still cannot edit these as getting the Access Denied message. No files are protected :(
Yup, Vista treats Program Files with special care. Using administrator (and disabled UAC) rights should allow you to modify files there but it would also allow any malware to do the same with other programs if it happend to be active on your system. Being logged on with administrator rights is something to avoid until really nescessary. If you are logged on with an ordinary account Vista should prompt for administrator permission in most of casses, but not every action. As was allready suggested is to install the game somewhere else on the harddisk (not inside Program Files).
