Greetings,
Overall I am enjoying SH4, though I do feel annoyed everytime I discover a feature from SH3 that was removed from this sequel.
Back in SH3 you could still use the TDC manually even if you didn't force its use in the realism menu and allowed the option for auto TDC to remain open. You had the best of both worlds.
I cannot find this option in SH4. Auto TDC is no longer the ability to use the magical periscope lock to input all the data automatically if you so desire but still have full manual control over the TDC, no sir, auto TDC in SH4 means you are completely locked out of the manual TDC, you are forced to use the magical periscope lock, exclusively.
Does anyone know if this is yet another feature that was removed from SH4, or if I'm missing a switch somewhere? I like manual targeting, but not all the time, and auto targeting in SH4 blocks you from anything except the lock-periscope attack, which denies you the possibility of sonar-only attacks and other methods.
As a side note, the devs of Dangerous Waters had the same mentality of the SH3 team: enabling the option of auto "TDC" in DW only means that you can use it if you so desire, but still allows you to go fully manual.
