More stealth goodness, but gone is the relative safety of the NSA backing Sam. Gritty, dark and driven by emotion on a personal quest; it seems the plot is more than superficial this time around. A lot of focus on Sam Fisher as character, or rather, a person.

Looking forward to this, have a look at the gameplay (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/splinter-cell-conviction/4767).

Yep, pretty much nailed the criticysm. Fun game though, "infiltration" is pretty hard.

Wait, I started a thread on it?!

Ow, good... looking for coop partner. :DL

I've been looking forward to this (Although I've skipped all the games since Pandora tomorrow ), hoping to see it pop up for me birthday ;)

He listed pretty much every stupid thing I feared would go into the game from the trailers and previews.

Have yet to play it, but I don't have too high hopes...

Fun to play if you keep high stealth; then those retards don't walk around shouting all the time. It actually makes a difference if they're just alerted, say from a destroyed light or camera, or have actually spotted you.

It's easy enough to get through a level, but you are very vulnerable; it can be over very quickly, forcing a retry. There's some challenges to get through levels without any retries and without firing a shot or without being spotted; have yet to manage either, very difficult.

In short, it's made rather easy, sorry, accessible. But if you dig a little deeper and play it as a SC game, there's more there than you would have expected. Simply playing without relying on Mark&Execute too much adds to the gameplay.

SP is rather short, but you can play the MP maps solo. Enemy placement is randomized so there's some replayability there too. Much better to play Coop though, really wouldn't recommend getting it unless you have someone to play with. It makes up half (well, 1/3) of the game; really need to get into that.

That said, I really miss some more tactical options from the other games, such as the pistol-mounted gadget to disable lights temporarily, and the GL on SC-3000 with sticky shocker and ring-airfoil rounds.

The problem of not being able to move bodies can be circumvented by grabbing a guy and neutralizing him in a dark corner. To be honest, that's what I did in the other games often anyway, but it still should have been in there. :-?

Wait they took out the ability to move bodies around? :x

Yep, though it kinda forces a new tactical aspect: take out enemies in dark corners. Should have been in there, but I don't feel like it compromised the gameplay too much. :hmmm:

I heard they removed the Pistol Light out thing because it made the game too easy.

So the Mark&Execute is more balanced? :rotfl2:

We need a way to sneak past without putting the whole level on alert (by being spotted or destroying lights). That tool let us do just that. :hmmm:

BUUUMMMPPPP

got the collector's edition today, and I have to say at first I was kind of disappointed at the changes, especially the monochrome 'stealth mode' indicator mechanic. (Crikey that really threw me off) After playing through the co-op prologue, though, I finally got the hang of things, and I have to say this is turning out quite fun. (Although the prologue seemed a little arcade-actiony) Too bad tomorrow's still a school day :shifty:

It is fun, but that's also the only way I can think of to describe it. :hmmm:

Ubi did the same with Assassin's Creed; "simplify" gameplay a bit for smoother gameplay (ie. less retries) and continuously keep the story developing (regular cutscenes or messages to avoid the feeling of being "stuck" on something).

They are fun distractions, but personally I prefer a bit of a challenge. I don't regret buying Conviction or AC2, even at full price (though I'd suggest people wait for the first price drop if they have any doubts), but it's AC1 and the old SC games I will keep coming back to and just play them for the gameplay.

In short, bit of a case of "console-game".

I'm loving it so far, but I have to say that the new stealth indicator is a pain to get used to. *ngyahhhhh*

Be sure to grab the extra content, those proximity mines are handy. ;)

New content every Thursday, though this week was an exclusive for Gamespot members... not gonna sign up to that site to get content, poor show on Ubi's part to not offer it to all their paying customers (though they might unlock it for all later on). :nope:

Played it for the past two days or so, it's ok (and that's much from someone who thinks SC is a poor man's rip off off Metal Gear Solid, wankers).

Tho, it does seem a bit uneven, by which I mean that when it does something well it's very nice, but there's also a lot of moments that feel like the devs just put something, anything, to fill some caps. The AI is my main gripe in it, they can be quite a wankers at times, but then there's moments like the one I encountered yesterday when I kicked down a door of a small hut, inside, maybe 2,5m away stood a guard facing sideways at the door, did he even notice me knocking the door down? Nope. :haha: (Ow and it was broad daylight, so stealth's not the answer. :O:)

It reminds me a lot of Hitman, kinda... well atleast you can choose between stealth or rambo. :O: Ow yeh and one thing that blows is that most of the time there's only one path to follow, sure there's few occasions where you can choose from 3 different windows to enter a hut, but would've wanted more approaches to the objectives.

Wait, what? You mean there's actually someone, besides me, who got this for PC?! :o

Gimme a shout if you wanna give that coop campaign a go, still haven't touched that. :)

Heh, I was afraid the lazy AI was only a problem with the console. Being able to shoot out lights at will, with almost no consequences just doesn't feel anything like the old SC I played :shifty:

I still like the game though, picked up some of the new content and spent an hour or so doing hand-to-hand kills in Deniable Ops.
