Well, after a very long hiatus from SH3 I have returned to the dreary skies of the North Atlantic! After doing many patrols in a fleet boat I almost feel lost back in SH3. I just started a patrol and I am already missing the luxuries of my fleet boat. :haha: Anywho, it feels good to be back in the Atlantic. I got the single file download of GWX 3.0 and went from there. I started out of Wilhelmshaven in U-45. I am to patrol BF19 and am just entering the English Channel. Being it is only August 1939 I feel I can at least go through this once. :arrgh!: I can't believe the depth of accuracy GWX 3.0 goes to. I thought the Tirpitz was bugged when I left Wilhelmshaven and immediately noticed she had no turrets. I came on here to do a search and found it is because she is still being outfitted! It never even occured to me. I'm still relearning my bearings but I hope to soon sink my first victim. :ping: Here's a couple useless shots just for good measure. :DL

Well you certainly weren't the first to be foxed by the turretless Tirpitz, and I doubt you'll be the last. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/whistle.gif

Me too. Tried again to move to SH4. It is fun for a little while but SH3 always calls me back. :yeah:

Thanks guys. My native resolution is 1280x1024 and I thought SH3 looked awful on my old card. With my current card I run it with 16x AA and AF and it doesn't look half bad. :DL When I reinstalled the game with GWX it felt like I was installing Command: Aces of the Deep. It just felt that nostalgic. SH3 with GWX is a sim for the ages! :salute:

Missing your ice cream maker, air conditioning, and once a week showers uh?
:D

Definitely! How will I get by without my cookies and cream? :dead:

You know what the biggest "luxury" I miss? 8192 time compression. I changed the TC to 2048 but even that takes a while to do anything, and SH3 just isn't really optimized for anything over 1024. 2048 works when there isn't anything around. My first patrol is up already and it was rather uneventful since the war hasn't even started yet. :88) I started getting bored sailing around watching targets sail by because the war hadn't started. I decided to head back to base so it starts the next time I head out. :arrgh!: It was a good shakedown cruise, though. :D

I've set max TC to 4096, but that's useful only for trip across Atlantic.

BTW, nice to have you back on duty. :DL
