From an Ati Radeon HD 4650 1GB card? while running SH3 on Vista?
My Geforce's fan seized and burnt the chip out! Now need a decent cheap upgrade quickly!
thanks

I should think an HD 4650 would run SH3 at about a billion frames per second.

Dont forget some of the older cards can still pull their weight, and will also come with a cheaper price tag too.I use an ATI X800 PRO (256MB) card, and it still gets good comments even to this day.Brand new I bought it for about £200,that was about 4 or 5 years ago, today?,I reckon you could get one for well under £50.
Your new graphics card will probably be that fast you will need to be careful you dont actually create a bottleneck. If your card is trying to pull away like a racehorse and your CPU and memory is not up to scratch you may actually experience degraded system performance.Dont forget cooling solutions inside your case too,as no doubt this card will generate as much heat as the planet mercury :O:
Enjoy the game!

Just ran a test on my 9800GT-1 GIG, and get 60fps in harbour, and about 200-300FPS out to sea in good weather.
400FPS (@1024TC)-1000FPS (paused) on the nav map.
Bad weather convoy attack 100-200FPS.

Yesterday I had poor frame rates 1 mile off Calais.Opened fire on a moored tanker when the whole harbour opened up on me :o
This was only done as a test, and after reloaded my game back up before I attacked.
Out to sea I get good fps.

Be mindful of the damage those pesky bottlenecks can create.

I'm running a ATi Radeon 1950Pro,with 2 gigs of RAM and P4 3.06 chip and in bad weather sometimes if I run into a large convoy it can get so lagged that it CTD's:nope: God knows what the FPS must drop to:o:timeout::wah:

My pc is 2yer old with athlon 64 3800+ dualcore, 7950gt 512ram and 2gig ram , however with the dual core procesor i think only one core works with the game and in the base it gets laggy. Not too much something like 20 fps and this is with 8-16x TC but it is annoying to get out of the harbour for a whole hour :)

Got my new card installed i'm now getting around 60FPS in port! using GWX with OLC's Gold MkII, about 20FPS more than my old Geforce 8600 could manage!
ok

My old PC:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Socket 939
MoBo: ASUS A8N-SLI nForce 4 chipset
RAM: 2GB DDR 333MHz (yea...slow...)
GPU: eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit DDR3
with that PC I got a blazing 10fps in port, but once I got out to see, everything was great.
Now here is my new PC that I built at the beginning of the month:
CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 Black Edition (3.2GHz) Socket AM3
MoBo: ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AMD 790FX chipset
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit DDR5
Now i get 120fps in port!:yeah:
