I am told I can only install GWX 3 over a fresh install of GWX patched to 1.4b.....
Is this true? I have installed GWX2, and this means that I will have to uninstall it, and re-install my original DVD and patch it to 1.4b, THEN install GWX 3......
So my problem is:
1. The DVD I have also re-installs the Starforce copy protection program. I do not want to install this again, as it took me quite a while to get rid of it, as I recall.......
2. Before I do anything, does GWX 3 make any operational changes to GWX2, or are they all "cosmetic." In short, is the juice worth the squeeze.....?

Hi, yes your point 1 it's true. You have to remove any modded SH3 from your pc and reinstall a fresh SH3+patch 1.4b. This operation will reinstall again Starforce protection from your DVD.
I can't answer to point 2 because I still have GWX2.1 running on my pc!
It won't install starforce until you run the game the first time with the disk.

Could someone explain to Kweigel what the differences are between GW2 and GW3?
Just telling him that it is "worth it" does not help him in making the decision.
I went through the pain of going from 2-3 and I am not aware of any glaring changes. I could have stuck with GWX2 and for many months did just that and still enjoyed the game.
Was it "worth it" for me to change? I dunno GWX2 was a pretty good mod :yeah:

I think you should buy the non-starforce version of SHIII.
You cna get it for only 10 Euros. (I don't know how much this is in dollars.)

The game then plays without the DVD in the drive.

IRISH: I like your plan. I will be glad to part with $10.00 to get SH3 without SF. I looked on Amazon, could not find it for $9.99, but more importantly, how can I be sure that the version that I buy does not have that horrible SF protection software?
Its amazing how much damage has that damn starfu**** protection caused to legal software owners. :nope:
