Since SH4 has been out for such a long time now why isnt there a SH4 Commander or is there?. Also does anybody out there know if there is a skin for a VII/C U-Boot U-269 of Otto Hansen please.

Unfortunatley, the creator of SH3 Commander has stated that he has no intention of creating one for SH4 (if I recall correctly).

Regarding the skins, take a look in the SH4 Mods Workshop, there are tons of skins there you can browse through :yeah:

Yes after being brow beat by the community for features and flaws in commander for which he asked nothing in return he said enough is enough.

Just a little reminder that you do indeed reap what you sew.

It's the kind of project I might be persuaded to take on.

I probably shouldn't have said that aloud, should I?

That could be you rip what you sew or reap what you sow. :D

Sue can sew but she can't sow, while her husband, in bending down can rip while reaping.

Also "hath" is misused here, which is a common mistake when someone tries to use archaic English in a witty fashion. "Hath" and "hast" are both old versions of "have" - it would be "Thou hast" or "He hath", but the first person would still be "I have".

English is an impossible language for any logical person.

College dropout, actually.

But a late bloomer. Love language and usage in general; love history more.

It was simply commandeered.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Thank you, I was going to start watching Urkel reruns.

I think, to some degree, there is no SHIV Commander 'cuz there isn't really a crying need for one. I find, with proper file naming and management, very few, if any, problems with keeping track of careers and such.

I keep two files for instance, which are refreshed constantly: CuurentSurface and CurrentSub (for submerged). All in-port files are the name of the boat.

What a tough crowd. :D

"Irregardless" ( :D ) of grammar errors, I am sorry that the creator of Commander got grief.

No one has the right to bitch about a free mod!

Being mod-challenged, I am grateful for those people willing to put in the time and effort (not to mention research and skill) to code in these mods. They really make the games much more enjoyable.

Did Jaesen get grief in this thread? In the past he got more than his share, but I think he announced his decision not to update to SH4 some time before any of that started. My understanding is that he just doesn't like SH4.

But I've been wrong before.

I remember reading this.... here it is:

Very sad. It's too bad that some ungrateful complainers spoiled what could have been an outstanding mod.

Number one requirement to be a modder is to have a thick skin and realize that each naysayer is outnumbered by a hundred happy downloaders who will never say a thing. The Internet is full of trollers whose entire life consists of ruining someone else's life if they can. If the modder quits, those pieces of subhuman debris win.

valid point. It would have been a nice gesture if some of the basic 'code' was passed to someone who could at least try to carry on the concept. Now someone has to "reinvent the wheel" yet again. Pity.:-?

Actually it has been started.. then carried on.. then seemed to die off again.

Potoroo was doing a SH4 version called SH4 Skipper. He had to give up on it due to RL reasons and it was passed on to skwasjer, who we know had been busy with Silent 3ditor. Hopefully he will get some time to work on it

He has never played it, and has his reasons ( not related to the game ).

This is quite true; the ability to change files at random and to change them for particular dates is the part I miss most in SHIV.
What I really regret, however, is the further lack of development of CMDR, as its potential to modify the game is almost unlimited. And since the structure of SHIII and SHIV are basically the same, these changes could be implemented in both games.

Actually, Jaesen got pissed off at Ubisoft also, not just the naysayers. See: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147237&page=10

A little heavy handed. If you go into something expecting trouble you will most likely find it.

But good luck with the project.
