Hi All,

I had bought a boxed copy of SOF from a used book store a few months ago but only got around to try installing until now; to save space and clutter, I throw away boxes from cd-roms and usually the jewel boxes too and put the cds in sleeves. Installation is asking for a serial number and all I have left is the single sheet that was with the cd itself...have I screwed myself??? I can't recall if there was a jewel box and if so, if there was a serial number sticker on it...is there a work-around to enable installation? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

I downloaded mine and didnt know it was available as a boxed product, but you can get a "free" version from the strategy first website if you buy two products in their 2 for 3 sale::yeah:

It's forbidden to ask for Serial codes on subsim, its against our policy.
(SEE HERE! (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/faq.php?faq=susbim_faq_item#faq_rules2_faq_item))

if you lost/threw away your Serial code you should make contact with the support of the product. the support can be found on the product's homepage.

Strategy First sent me a code after I sent them photos of the disc and the one insert I had not thrown away, and I was able to install SOF successfully. Thanks for the replies.

Before investigating the stock game, should I install U-Boote-Kurs West? What are the pros and cons of using this mod?

The add on gives you more ships and missions and is well worth the download. The only problem you might get is the "black night" screen effect but I think there are fixes available to sort that out easily enough.

This is a good sim and thanks to all those who have made it better by their add ons:yeah:

thanks for the reply. did come across the black sky fix if it is necessary on my configuration. will go ahead and download the mod.

someone had helpfully had extracted the vessel info into a pdf - do I assume correctly the the extra ships in UKW are not included?

regards!

That's correct. New ships and shipdata can be viewed in the modelviewer (objectviewer) in the game.
There are also some information files included, watch http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=138971.

Problem solved so I am going to close this particular thread. Don't like to leave this type open to long as per what Hunter mentioned.

If you have further questions you can start a new one :yep: Glad it worked out for you.
