hi! i´m new in this forum and i´ve already got 2 questions:
1. how can i see the length of a ship in the recognition manual?

2.how do i install mods or what patch do i have to use? (i´ve got 1.3 and the generic mod enabler but my game freezes and i have to close it via the task manager.)

oh and 3. what do u think of my english? i´m going to england next year and would love to have some feedback :)

You need to patch up to 1.4 or go to the completed support of the game with 1.5 uboat add on.

hm... i´ve installed u-boat missions but it still deosn´t work.
any idea what i´m doing wrong?
it´s written in the main menu that it´s still v1.3
it looks that nothing has changed...
p.s. the mod i´m attempting to use is the "Imperial Nomograph v1.2"

You might want to take all the JSGME stuff and its mod folder and put it some where else when you install the U-Boat add-on. i am pretty sure it is not going to work with all that stuff still active. You have to start fresh.If it says v1.3 it did not work at all a sure way to tell when v1.5 is up you will see at the loading screen a german sub and it have the U-Boat missions title as well as having v1.5 at the main menu.But you have to get all that mod stuff out first.I am no pc wiz but that doing those things will help. Also I am not 100% sure but I think there are 2 versions of the U-Boat add-on one that is seprate and adds into an old version of SH4 the other has SH4 and the U-Boat add-on all together this could be a factor in your issues as well.If you have the later it may be better to remove the old SH4 and then install the new one make sure it works then start adding your mods.

1 - did you buy the Uboat Misions Ad-on? its not a free patch, the last free patch is v1.4

it has to be bought seperately as a download or the only other way to get it is it comes with the gold edition of SH4

2 - none of the old mods will work anymore (but there are 1 or 2 rare exceptions) so you need to look at the new mods made for the v1.5 game

3 - its probably best to just uninstall the game and delete any remaining files including your my docments sh4 file

what i did was: i bought the gold edition with silent hunter 4 and u-boat missions. then i installed silent hunter only. i looked for some mods and stumbled over jsgme. i installed this one, too. then i tried to use the nomograph but i didn´t work. so i asked for help in this forum and i followed your advice and disabled the nomograph, installed u-boat missions (which didn´t work at all) and tried it out again. nothimg happened. during this whole process nothing has changed. how is this possible?
i don´t think reinstalling silent hunter will be usefull since my game is still "original".

Since you have 12 minutes left in that 1 hour time frame, I'd would suggest you do an in depth study on Dowly's signature. [posted above]. It might help your performance in the game.

ok. i´ve deleted everything.
then i installed in that order:
1. silent hunter 4 v.1.3
2. u-boat missions (now it´s v1.5)
3. jsgme v2.2.0
4. nomograph

everything worked fine except for the nomograph. at least the u-boat missions worked this time (i´ve got the german submarine loading screen)
but there is something i don´t understand: in the mod-list thread on this website, (almost) every mod is called bla,bla for v.1.2
what does it mean? are these mods v.1.2 or are they for the v.1.2 of silent hunter 4? if the second applies, where can i get mods for v.1.5 (which is my current version of the game)?
am i right that mods for older versions of the game are incompatible to newer ones?

i´ve tested another mod called dark hud for v.1.5 and it worked!!!
btw does anyone know the link to a nomograph for v.1.5?
