Base & transfers question

Greetings fellow Kaleuns!

Yes, another question from the noob :D

I was wondering how the bases/transfers work. Is a capt/crew transferred automatically or do you have to do it yourself? The reason I'm asking is that I'm on Patrol #8 in a Type II in the North Sea in August 1940. Obviously I don't want to stay in a "duck" or be based out of Kiel the entire war :yawn: Can I expect to be told to put into one of the French bases in the near future? Will I be assigned a Type VII? My renown isn't all that great...a little over 1800. So far I've sunk 10 ships for a little over 37,000t. Worst damage was a hull integrity of 97.77% (not sure how that happened!).

Not sure how the campaign works regarding where a person is assigned.

In stock you have to grab a phone when in base and ask for transfer. Click on desired flotilla and see if BdU agrees.

I will do just that. I should have mentioned I'm using GWX3.0 & SH3 Commander...would that make any difference?

Your flotilla will transfer to France ones it is under German control. You will then have to drive your boat there yourself.
Not good to be in an type II at that time:hmmm:
Or, as new bases and flotillas become available you can ask for a transfer as said above.
Works the same in GWX. Some dates are different.

If you are on the 1st Flotilla you should be be transfered to Brest on June 1941 iirc. You dont have to do anything, its automatic, and if you are at sea at that date, you will recieve a message from BdU telling you about your new destination port.

Since it's Aug 1940 I guess I will have to wait awhile before going to France. At the end of this patrol I should see if I can get into a Type VII...:hmmm:
