Here is a press release from Avsim, incase you haven't heard, their site was hacked and pretty well destroyed! They also knocked out the server which included their backups.

PRESS RELEASE: AVSIM Hacked!!

Tom Allensworth, CEO and Publisher of AVSIM, today issued the following announcement; “We regret to inform the flight simulation community that on Tuesday, May 12, AVSIM was hacked and effectively destroyed. The method of the hack makes recovery difficult, if not impossible, to recover from. Both servers, that is the library / email and web site / forum servers were attacked. AVSIM is totally offline at this time and we expect to be so for some time to come. We are not able to predict when we will be back online, if we can come back at all. We will post more news as we are able to in the coming days and weeks. "

Pretty sad when they target a website like that, just think of all the files they hosted over the years.

, just think of all the files they hosted over the years.

Yes and think of all the personal data, passwords and email addresses that are now in the hands of the hackers. That concerns me even more than the sudden demise of Avsim......

To imagine that somewhere in the hidden some bastards are giggling until they snap for air, really raises some bloodthirsty images on my mind.

5 billion people too much on this planet - and amongst these too many bloody a##h####.

Interesting to see what the guy named Varmin has to say here:

We do not know if it really is because of that lower being and defrauder he described in his information. But if it is the one responsible, he deserves a bit more than just imposing an even suspended sentence of one or two years. A solid spanking, possibly public to make him aware of his shame, and one or two years in prison without a suspension, additonally working for free afterwards to compensate for the financial damage, may work much better as an educational lecture on why you do not do such mean acts.

That website represented plenty of creative as well as maintenance work, by "technicians"/administrators as well as authors. This is a very massive damage to the results of thousands and thousands of hours of creative and intellectual work, and comparing it to the working hours and material value of a car, the crime is much more serious than for example burning a car on the street during an optimistically so-called "demonstration". An assessement of the severity of this crime should reflect that.

That's terrible. They were such a great resource, and I was a heavy user back in my MSFS days.
