View Full Version : How did I die?

This morning when I went to work, I let the game running. I was submerged at 40 meters running 2kts north of the canary islands. The weather was heavy clouds and heavy rain. Zero visibility.
When I come back from work I see Mission results Not enough crew.
All dead!
Any idea how did this happen? There aren't any mines between Madeira and Canary islands are there?
Could I be detected by a destroyer in a lousy weather that it was? :hmmm:
I dont think I ran out of air since I was gone for only 10hours..
It's too bad the game wont tell you what killed you.. :damn:

If your using crew rotation as normal, then they can be so exhausted as to die,get SH3Cmdr and you can use that to turn the crew fatigue off, much better, leaves you to get on with things and not have to babysit the crew:yeah:plus SH3Cmdr give you a whole host of other goodies to fine tune the game. Its brilliant,I can't imagine SH3/GWX without it:03::up:

There should be enough air for a ten hour submergence.
I don't know if fatigue makes any difference. Do you have fatigue enabled?
Another thing may be that you ran aground. I've seen where people have hit little sea mounts that don't show up when you're zoomed out, but if you zoom in, there are little points of land sticking up.

nikbear: I can't imagine SH3/GWX without it:03::up:Me neither :03:
nikbear: If your using crew rotation as normal, then they can be so exhausted as to die They can die, really? :o
I do have fatigue turned off so that cant be it.
I also play D.I.D, but I'm going to forgive myself this time for loading a previous save. Since I was away and Bernard my XO couldnt save our butts. (excuses...) :rotfl:
And I'm pretty sure there are no little islands on my course. I sometimes use the navigator to plot our course, because that's the only way he can hold the course in a storm.
Could it be then that I was possibly detected by a convoy escort? There were no sound contacts when I left for work. :hmmm:
Thanks for the ideas, fellas. And please keep them coming :yep:
ps. D'oh now I got the "navy dude" for a punishment :wah:

there is a hunter killer group that runs that area... you probably were unlucky enough to sail right under them.
if your going to leave the sim unattended its best to set your depth for something more in tune with 140 meters depth with silent running at 1x compression

Simple! What do you expect?
Bernard watched you leaving the U-Boot somewhere north the Canary Islands at 40 meters depth - obviously you were shot out from a torpedo tube - draw his conclusions and ordered the crew to follow.

It may seem an odd question, but why go to work and leave the game running? I don't get it.

LMAO @ Mittelwaechter :har:
GoldenRivet:if your going to leave the sim unattended its best to set your depth for something more in tune with 140 meters depth with silent running at 1x compressionYeah that's probably what I should have done
Or if it was Jack Bauer it doenst matter what I did... :damn:
What ever happened it seems like that I never had the chance
Actually Steve, I could just pause the game since it's not preferable to save the game in a storm. But because I only use TC of 1x to 16x I like to leave the game running for just killing the time :D
I understand there's a draw back when I have to leave the boat for Bernard to commandeer :88)
