I waited more than half my life for this, and today the postman delivered it, finally: it took German film companies until last month to finally release the German translated version of "The Avengers" on DVD. While it has been available in English since I don't know how long, this is the first German edition released ever, DVD or VHS. Even better, they started not with the first season, but the fourth, which is the first of two seasons with Diana Rigg alias Emma Peel. They included also all scenes and episodes that never had made it onto the German TV screens. And I am now a proud and happy owner, waiting for the fifth season to be released, too!
A real gem in my collection! Other series I own on DVD are "The Professionals, "All creatueres big and small", "Robin of Sherwood", and - for sentimental reasons - even: "Space 1999" :D .
You note something? They are all British series. It seems they knew a thing or two about how to create a good TV series in the past.
Well then, this evening I am about to enjoy my first episode of "Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone" since my schooldays... That opportunity deserves to prepare a masterfully composed pizza first, all manually done, no frozen instant crap, and to get a fruity Valpolicella from the wine cellar. For this special day, it would even be a Spanish champagne, if I would happen to have one at home, but I haven't. But still: life is good today! :woot:
