Looks like Duke Nukem Forever will continue to be out of reach, probably forever

Hardly surprising given that they have supposedly spent how many years developing a sequel to Duke Nukem? Not exactly a sane business model assuming it was not vaporware.

If anything this may actually make it more likely it will get released, as some other group will probably pick it up, work on it, and release it.

What's more shocking than this news is that IT WAS STILL BEING WORKED ON?! :haha:

I thought it had been scrapped ages ago, but apparently not. If it ever gets released it'll be even better than Daikatana :yeah:

I always thought how if Duke Nukem Forever ever got released, chances are it will turn into another Daikatana or Battlecruiser 3000AD

Sad though, it looked like it just got going at the end of last year

From what Duke Nukem title are most of these one liners? I recognise those of the original Duke Nukem 3d but where does the rest come from?

Boy that were good times back then.:D

Boy that were good times back then.:D

Aye. :yep: Not that much the game (I prefered Blood at the time). but the Build map maker was great fun. I had to do like 2000 maps in total for DN3D, Blood and various total conversions of DN3D.

I still have the original DN3D disk somewhere here...

Ah , the good old Duke Nukem 3D..that brings back some memories.

*Loads Level 2 of Episode 1 - "Red Light District"

*Barges into nightclub*

*Stands in front of stripper*

*SPAMS spacebar repeatedly* :D

Too bad that 3D Realms shut down, Duke Nukem Forever stays true to it's name.

Something tells me they were doomed for years now.

Even if it came out people would be wondering if patches would have the same treatment so after the initial 'Lawl I got the game first!111!" Sales it would have tanked.

They had a beta version of Duke Nukem forever i believe back in the 90's, I remember reading about the beta in a gaming mag with ingame images looked impressive for its time. Then it just died. This game will never be released and whoever is hoping it just might is a dreamer lol. RIP Duke.

RIP Duke.

Bah! DN3D still going strong. New improvements and such are still being made by the modders. Just installed my copy of DN3D, now just need to start D/L'ing billion things for it and I'm good to go. :yeah:

DN3D yeah like Quake 1 they will remain classics, but Duke Nukem forever? I'm afraid is history...

I had a lot of fun with duke3d, sooo many user made maps for multiplayer and cooperative gameplay. I remember i used to play on Kali. Not to mention the duke3d mods like WW2GI and the vietnam one...

And yet, it just refuses to roll over and die. It continues... (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/forever-gate-take-two-demands-duke-nukem-forever-source-code-in/)

Of course, the source code will need to be transferred to the new company in order for THE CURSE to continue

Surely it does not make sense to just start the whole bloody thing over...

What the hell is going on over there?! Apparrently 3D Realms is alive and kicking, it's just the DNF team that was let go. Take-Two lawsuit appears to be a bully tactic to acquire rights for the game, coming after refusing to coöperate with further development (not providing funds leading to 3DR having to let the team go).

I was surprised too, when I read about this on Gamecentral (a teletext based review/news page). Although im not that surprised about the lawsuit - the curse continues........

Only understood half of it, but that was plenty to get the point across. :hmmm:

Good ridance. Duke Nukem Forever was going to be, what, another FPS? I seriously doubt it was going to be anything special enough to warrant the 12 year development span 3D Realms blundered it's massively incompetant ass through. The fanboy following it had regardless was hilarious. So hilarious that it has become the punch line of pretty much every joke gaming these days.

More Duke Nukem is worth any wait. :arrgh!:
