Hi Everyone,
I try to install SH3 on XP home with SP2, but at the very end I get 'installshield wizard was interrupted'. I read that uninstalling SP2 will cure it but do I really have to? Is there a registry fix? I have 3 SH4 and 4 SH3 installations, but can't copy because Mods have altered them and I need Vanilla for a purpose and anyway, that's what I bought the DVD for.
Can anyone help please?

I may be wrong here, but it seems that SP2 CAN cause quite severe issues with some games,I know there are definite issues with internet explorer after getting this update, such as web pages freezing,IE has encountered a problem and needs to shut down, and so on.
I personally still use a clean install of XP home, and have foregone updates up to this date,I have the current version of Direct X and thats it.As far as security goes, the built in firewall does the trick and having system restore on just for the internet allows me to roll back any problems encountered.
This may not be the advice you were specifically after, but my guess is it has something to do with SP2 :shifty:
I bet if you format your HD,clean install XP,run a scan with both Adaware and Spybot to remove the Alexa program (this appears to be spyware that XP installs as default),get the latest Direct X update, and the latest drivers for both AGP card and sound card you encounter no problems with this game,or any other.Oh,and get the 1.4 patch for SHIII.
NOTE -
Formatting your HD is quite beneficial, and probably would'nt hurt to do this about once every month or so.Just remember to backup any important data, saved games etc.

When I ran XP, I reformatted my hard drive about every year, and the result was amazing each time.
As far as the problem is concerned, I had a similar problem with InstallShield. I screwed around with it for many hours and finially went to the installshield folder on my hard drive, found the registry key that the program kept reinstalling in my registry and deleted it. After that, I uninstalled SHIII, cleaned my registry, defrag my hard drive and reinstalled SHIII without any problems.
I then made a copy of the SHIII, 1.4b folder and burned it to a DVD.

Thanks for the suggestions, however, reformatting is not something I undertake lightly, so I'll pass on that. I removed SP2, deleted idrive in Task Manager, and hey presto, SH3 installed.

Good to hear it worked then :yep:
I understand your concern about formatting, but if you know how to take adequate measures beforehand the result is a clean bug free hard drive, just like the day you bought it.All you have to really remember is just to backup your critical data, saved games, etc.
Well I think that wraps up that little problem
