In 1975, he beganas a loner with a shadowy past, and whatever character he had was mostly Canadian caricature. He loved beer and fighting; he dropped his g's and called people "Bub."

Funny article, and thankfully, someone remembers the first X-men comics were flops!

I'm actually annoyed with the way mainstream success has messed up everything to do with Wolverine. "X-Men" has basicly and almost literally been renamed "Woverine and his b**ches". Heck in the third X-Men movie (That according to every comic book fan, myself included, never happened), they killed off a major character without even the dignity of a death scene just to get him out of the way so that Wolvie could get an in road with the guy's wife who is secretly Wolvie's TRUE LOVE !! It's annoying that now, instead of the regular comic book fans and writers writing things, it seems that things are being written by the Hugh Jackman/Wolverine merchandising machine (The third X-Men movie was written by the Hugh Jackson/Halle Barry merchandising machine).
Heck... in the latest animated treatment of the X-Men, titled "Wolverine and the X-men:nope:" they even made him the LEADER of the X-Men ! To us comic fan boys, Wolvie doesn't have an ounce of leadership quality !! He's supposed to be a loner and a loose cannon !! He's the guy who would say to the rest of the X-Men, "Okay guys. There's a guy in there with the power to tear a black hole in half. You guys stay here. I'll go take care of it." or the team would be outside planning how they're going to handle the guy and then they suddenly realize that Wolvie is missing and that he just walked in there without them !
Cyclops or Storm are the two leaders of the X-men team and that will never change for me.
As a hardcore comic nerd who grew up with Wolverine, I have to seriously protest the whoreing of him like they have now.

His real last name is Howlett, which I looked up, it's of Norman ancestry ( also looked up ). Makes sense, they like a good scrap.
