What patches to install?

I just installed SH4 and started playing. I played SH3 since its release but time to move on. Cant wait to play on my new gaming computer. I know there are patches to install for upgrading the game versions and for bug fixes and such. I was wondering what patch to upgrade to so I can still be able to download mods and use them. Is there such a thing as only certain mods work for only certain versions? Any other advice for anything would be great. Thank you!

Patch 1.4 is the last free patch. The U-Boat missions are 1.5 and that is where the mods are headed, most are already 1.5 only. It's only ten bucks and though I never play the U-Boat side, it is worth the money for the patch and the upgrades.:yep:

As far as mods goes, there is no other place like right here. Just visit the SH4 Mods Workshop and you will get your fill and then some. :03:
