Hi Mates,

I was having quite bit of trouble with CTD after installing Vista (32 bit). :damn:

I not had any CTDs since I ran with only 2 cores instead of 4. :know:

I hope this may help someone!

Strange it would not run with all cores. I run it on all four cores. :hmmm:

I wish I could run on all 4.....I CTD constantly.

I had a CTD last night after playing for quite awhile using only 2 cores.

I have no clear answer as to why.

I never had a CTD in XP pro.

How much RAM do you have installed? VISTA uses a lot more RAM than XP. Could be that you have a flakey RAM chip. Get a memory test and run it and see if it can pick up a flakey bit. Could be???? Check out this link. :hmmm: Old_tex

are you overclocking?

if not it sounds like a vista driver issue or ram voltage issue

some mobo get freaky with ram, it could be a minor voltage adjustment is in order.

i have read many threads with this problem and its not easy to explain but some ram just works different when used with certain equipt

Mates;

New Intel I7 chip, Gigabyte MB, 4gigs ram (mem tested) no OC.

Geforce GE285

Vista 32 bit (new load)

Webster...if it is some voltage issue, how can I adjust?

There is no reason you should not be able to run on 4 cores. Something else is amiss. Can you locate the error log and pinpoint the time and what was happen at the scene of the crash?

What are the specs for the RAM? Some modules don't have the correct info in the SPD, and require manual configuration. For example, my RAM is rated for 2.2v but gets set to 1.8v by default.

Check what volt it should be on and see in the BIOS if it is set like it should.
