Guess your not a Submarine simulator fan?
as I recall SH2 was the Foundation
Of The Silent Hunter Series,
according to Ubisoft :salute:

I took you question to mean "do you still play it" and the answer is no.

Actually, the first Silent Hunter was the foundation of the Silent Hunter series, it being the first and all...

EDIT: Oh, you mean Ubi's SH games, then yes

I would have to say no, i played it for a bit but just could not get into it, it ended up on my shelf pretty darn fast. Ironically I would be more likely to play destroyer command then ever play SH2 again.

I have SH2 but haven't installed it in ages. Without mods it was next to unplayable.:nope:
It made me going back to SHI.

I saw a SHII game in store (the first subsim I've EVER seen instore ). I was going to buy it but I'd probably go for SH3 or 4 if I can grab a copy. Not sure if that's relevant to the topic  But yes, I nearly bought it then since my money had be spent towards my 2nd horse, I have to wait :-?

I flip the disk up in to the air and catch it when I'm bored. Does that count? :O:

No. It got turned into a great game, but the complete lack of a career mode killed it for me.

If, however, a bunch of folks were multiplaying SH2 and DC again I'd gladly play once more.

But I guess the shipping would cost more then ordering a new copy.

I wonder what the changes of DC being redone (but this time better)?

It would be really cool to have a WWII anti-submarine simulator where you really need to understand the sonars. :yeah:

I'd be happy if UBI would release a improved DC as good as SH-3 that could be played together.

I'd rather have that then, a new SH-5.

If your interested in playing SH2 single or multiplayer, drop me a line.

I'm in the process of trying to get it installed on my vista64 machine w/no luck, but have it on my desktop and a small core of faithful playing single missions.

I found SH2 very dissapointing (the vanilla version). I don't even know where the disk is anymore. I think I was one of the first people to complain about SH2's AI. You only had to play it an hour to know something was wrong with it. I like the DC command concept as a multiplayer game.

Still own my copy of SH2 :yeah:

Pretty ugly game, even for when it was made. :nope:

Oh and the scripted campaign

SH2 is pretty much dead for me. Though my notebook is too weak to play SH3 (and I really love that game), SH2 won't run either. It's a graphics card issue - distorted or partly disappearing text, both in the menus and in briefings. A few months ago I thought I could give it a try, for old time's sake, and uninstalled my current graphics driver and re-installed the one that came with the system. SH2 did work, but I found it wasn't half as enjoyable as I remembered. Also, the frame rate of DW had dropped so miserably that I thought to do away with SH2 once and for all. IMO, there's no need for that game anymore.

I still play DC on the laptop, works well with Vista.
SH2..my big bohonker vid card will not play it on the home system. :nope:

For its day...SH2/DC was played day and night at the WPL for years...then SH3 came out.pooof! gone.

And if there is a call for SH2/DC players...I'll be there.

The vanilla version was very lacking since it did not had dynamic campaign, but the mod "Aces campaign" (i think) fixed this issue back in the day and it made it quite fun but you still had to hack the config files for disabling those laser guided depth charges :haha:

I found my new Windows 7 PC will install and run SH2 and DC. SH2 required the high res mod and neither will work if PM1.03 is installed, but hey, better than being broken on the Xp PC. Yay!:woot:

There was a fix by Seeadler for that, initially created for PM 0.14 but work with any version. I still have it, so if you want it, I'll upload it here at subsim.com.

That would be good of you. I still need to get Pacific Aces to run. SH2 does fine but PA gives me a janus error at launch.

Install order was:

1.SH2 original disc install renamed PA.
2. PA1.1
3. High red mod.
4. PA upgrade/patch (SubSim pack)

For all it's problems, SH2 did at least have that funky Type XXIII. Even if the propeller did revolve around it's end instead of it's center. :D

I'm not sure anymore, but I think PA didn't need Subsim's hi-res kit, as it was already included. Try installing only SH2, 1.1 patch, then finally PA initial version. Start the game and run it at 800x600. If that works, try f it allows you to select 1024x768 and test it. Finally, add PA patch and test again.

Torp, now we also have it in SH3 :yeah:

But yes, SH2/DC gave you control of pretty anything that floated with some minor text file editing, and that was a great potential.

My mistake.

The order should be:
NOTE: Relevant to my Windows 7 system, hardware may matter if it installs at all

1. SH2 full install
2. SH2 Patch 1.1 (SH2Patch1.1)
3. SH2 Hi-res mod w/o PM 1.03 (SubsimHighResComb_11SP1)
4. PacificAces_RC4
5. PacificAcesPatch11

Works fine now. Note you should save these whole installed versions. If you trash one, you simply copy the save back into the game's directory. :03:

EDIT: To have SH2 and Pacific Aces:

1. Install full SH2 to default directory.
2. Install SH2 official patch 1.1
3. Insatall Hi-res mod (SubsimHighResComb_11SP1) w/o PM 1.03 selected
4. Copy C:\......\SSI\Silent Hunter II folder as 'SH2good install' or whatever for a duplicate backup file
5. Copy the backup and paste/rename to C:\......\SSI\Pacific Aces
6. Install PacificAces_RC4 to C:\......\SSI\Pacific Aces. I have to select C:\......\SSI\Pacific Aces, and then rebrowse to remove the 'Silent HunterII' that ends the file path.
7. Install Pacific Aces 1.1 Patch to C:\......\SSI\Pacific Aces

If you don't have a desktop icon start 'Pacific Aces 1.1' from C:\......\SSI\Pacific Aces\Shell\SH2
