Hehe, I've just gotten onto the Los Angeles Times! (Well, sorta...)
So, April 14. Two days after the Maersk Alabama rescue, and LA Times is running an article (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-pirates14-2009apr14,0,7994401.story), complete with a diagram showing the relative sizes of Bainbridge and the lifeboat. I get to that page...
Wait a minute! Bainbridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Bainbridge_%28DDG-96%29) is a Burke DDG...it doesn't have fore-and-aft Mk 26 launchers!
But, on the other hand, Bainbridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Bainbridge_%28CGN-25%29) was also a CGN...
My class was quite surprised at my perhaps overloud reaction. Ditto my rush to the computer, but it is Speech-and-Debate post-competition season, where the class is similar to a force of nature, only more random.
Long story short, the next day the correction (http://www.latimes.com/news/custom/corrections/) pops up. Naval geekery pays off!
