My computer randomly crashes to desktop it has never happend before so i think it has something to do with my videocard NVIDEA GeForce 9800 GT. Any idea's.

What I would do is only load TMO and see how it goes. If no CTD then start adding RSRD. If still no CTD then continue adding the other mods until you CTD. Then last one you load that creates CTD then you know the culprit. I suspect one of your mods is causing the CTD. I suspect any one of the mods following TMO/RSRD is causing the CTD. Not because they are bad mods but they were possibily not designed to work with TMO/RSRD.

Yep. That's the best place to start. If that doesn't fix it go to nvidia.com and download the driver for your video card. Sometimes the drivers that ship with new systems are pretty lame. The 9800 GT(x)'s rock!

I think Warhawk is right...I see a few mods there that probably have issues. Don't know what gun mod you're using, but I loaded one up on
top of the same basic mod package you're using and had the same problem, so may want to look at that one.

You probably know, but if it's new with a big bundle package, it's probably running every service and program in the background and you may be a lttle low on ram with the mods, but you should still be running the game OK. I would cut off every service and program not needed and add some ram when you can.

Hi pabbi :DL These guys seem to have covered all the bases pretty well.

One thing I can add is it might be a bad ram stick.

I had simular problem with GWX and it started out of nowhere.

Jimbuna told me to check there and, BINGO, problem solved.

And all 4 of my 1gb sticks were new after build.

Hope it's something simple.

you'll probably need to use "nhancer" too so some of the older games work with your new card and new drivers.

get it here: http://www.nhancer.com/?dat=downloads

Since you posted on SH4 forum and not the new forum about computer problems.

I assume it happens with SH4.

Do's this happen with any other games ?

No this has only happened with SH4 and it never happened on my old computer with nvidia 7800.

He said new, so it better not be, lol, but I can feel your pain. I spent 3 days trying to fix my cp, just locked up and rebooted before the DT. About went nuts and finally pulled out the sticks one at a time and bingo...about made me sick after hours of trying to reinstall windows, new hard drive, video card, win, ect....

i would double check all your data connections, those damn sata connectors never seem to make solid connections to the mobo. dont know why they feel so loose all the time. its a good idea to remove your ram and then reinstall it. often new parts feel solid but may not be fully seated or they can have a contact thats got overspray on it and needs to rub a little for good contact.

if everything checks out ok it may be a PSU dropping out on you causing low voltage crash

Thanks Webster i downloaded nhancer and well did not use it (it looks like a good program) but it helpt me in understanding the nvidea settings which are very custumer friendly ones you get the hang of it.

Thanks again gentlemen.

I run the Nvidia program for my 9800. IMO, all anyone needs. Your game is working and that is all that matters in the end:up:

What i did was i opened NVIDEA control panel==>manage 3d settings==> then go to program settings and add a program to customize and from there on it is pretty mutch the same as nHancer sett the filters the way you prefere, i sett them to application controled.

with my 8800GT it wont run any of the medal of honor games at all as it is set with defaults (ctd only) so nhancer sets it correctly for those to work, otherwise i would agree with you.

i hate reading instructions so maybe i could have found a button on the nvidia control panel to do the same auto setting but nhancer was easier than reading instructions lol.

True that Webster. I have not had a game issue running the standard Nvidia program. I did however try the nhancer and it was just to much button pushing for me to figure out. Once I had an ATI card and I would have to say the CCC program is awful. I tried a 3rd party program for the card and this was also to much mind blowing button pushing for me also. Alas, I have had much success with the standard program and stick with it:yeah:

i dont do anything hawk, i loaded nhancer and started it. it automatically found the best settings for all my games (which took about 5 minutes lol) then thats it. it saved the profiles so i never had to run it or turn it on again unless i load a new game. like i said, im too lazy to read so i never tried to understand what the buttons do or why i just leave it all at default or recommended settings. its got preset profiles for most games so it just sets them up according to that and then if you want you can fine tune it from there but i dont bother.

It is wrong to say crash to desktop more like, the game freezes and i have to restart my computer.

I was encountering a problem very simular to this when i 1st installed SH4, i had installed the game then updated to 1.4. I thought i had a corrupt download on the patch so redownloaded with no success, i then updated to 1.5 by purchasing the u-boat addons thru subsim via direct2drive (so subsim got a piece of the pie). It still crashed often and hard. The sticky thread on reinstalling sh4 didn't seem to help as it pointed me to registry entries that didn't show up in windows xp and otherwise the game was reinstalling ok

After 3 days of steady crashes i took a day off from playing with the problem and went golfing. While on the golf course it occured to me to check for conflicts in my display area.

I had recently updated my video card to a 512 mg radeon agp 8x video card and it had a conflict, lowered the agp from 8x to 4x and haven't had a crash in hundreds of hrs of gameplay since.

It is simply amazing at just what else can be accomplished while on the golf course. I myself have solved many odd problems whilst in port and swinging my sticks on the ole' links.:yeah:
