Arsonists have set fire to mine and my wife's car.
the fire had spread into the garage which was filled with most of our belongings (we had just moved in a few weeks ago and were still moving stuff in piece by pice)
fire is out now.
expect absence for short term
~GR
EDIT:
appears that our vehicles were first in a rash of vehicle fires within a 1 mile radius of my home - must surely be arson.

I hope you have an insurance, and it jumps in. That you get material compensation for your losses, is priority now, second is to get that/those bastard(s) doing it. Somebody seems to have taken the term "Easter fires" in a wrong context.

Flames Spread to the garage door and licked the house pretty good.
:nope:
obviously the vehicle is a total loss, fortunately the only things of value were my $9 sunglasses and my $300 david clark aviation headset

That's terrible. :(
Do you have any idea who or why?

The whole story.
My wife and I were soundly asleep when the doorbell rang.
I sat up, turned to my wife... "what time is it?" in an aggravated tone
"4:30" she replied
"are you expecting anyone at 4:30 in the morning?"
"no"
i placed my pistol within reach and answered the door.
a fireman in full fire gear stood there looking like darth vader
"where is your fire?!"
:o "what fire? i dont have a fire! . . . . do i?!"
he ran with commrades to the back of the house, i checked the garage.
the entire left side of the garage door was aflame from floor to ceiling.
i ran back outside
"fire around back!" i yelled, by then they were unreeling the hoses
we were ordered out of the house where we remained for almost an hour with virtually no information.
toward the end of the calamity we were escorted to the back of the house where our cars were parked.
my car is a burned out hulk, my wifes car - the passenger side is melted.
as the scene was being cleaned up the fire chief exclaimed to his boys "dispatch called in 3 more car fires down the road!" and most of them left the scene declaring the home safe for habitation.
appears that in a 2 or 3 block area - there were 4 car fires.
I hope nobody was hurt or killed.

That just sickens me. Honestly, wtf is wrong with wrong with some people? :nope:
The most important thing is that you guys are alright, thank God, but please tell me you have insurance....
GoldenRivet
04-12-09, 07:34 AM
yup i have insurance.
i have been wanting to get a truck anyway - as a car is impractical given the scope of my daily operations.
what a deal...
Im just glad the house didnt burn up. :o

I am just thankful that you and yours are safe and secure. Hopefully those responsible will be caught, tried and convicted. Had this ended in the death of one occupants of the homes involved - the perps would be looking at murder charges.

What a pain in the nards. At the very least no one was hurt in your fire. Seems the perp is not interested in hurting people as it looks like cars are his thing to light up.

I'm just glad you and your wife didn't burn up.:yep:
We've had some cases locally where the actual arsonist was a rookie firefighter who set the fires so he and his crew could be 'heroes'. Sadly some people did die in those fires.:nope:
Hope that isn't the case out there...

I just got off the phone with GR and he and wife seem to be takeing this in stride. As best as one can under the circumstances.
What a crappy way to start an Easter Sunday.
The kind of people that do this always get caught eventually.
This firebug could have killed two people.
Lets hope he gets caught before he do's.
Oh !!! How's is Gunner ?

Jeez, I'm glad you guys are ok, and the whole house didn't go up.
Hopefully, some homeowner will catch this guy or guys in the act and put a 9mm round in their head.

Boy, I hate those people. How can it be fun to place unknown people into danger and destroy their valuable, sometimes irreplaceable, property?
Glad you are all right though. I hope they nail those bastards.

oh and Gunner is fine, he seemed to know that something was wrong and that all the scary looking people were there to help us and was on his best behavior despite being agitated by the situation.

F'n lowlife criminal worms. A bullet is too good for them...

Glad that you and your wife are safe Goldenrivet,
Scary thought that you didnt notice it untill brought to attention of a fire by the firefighter.
Hopefully, some homeowner will catch this guy or guys in the act and put a 9mm round in their head.
I would rather have him crap his pants looking straight into this barrel before the homeowner pulls the trigger with this:

GoldenRivet,
Sorry to heard the bad news and I'm glad your wife is okay too, when everything return back to normal please take my highest advise.
Get yourself a bloody watchdog a German Shepherd http://www.best-dog-photos.com/images/German-Shepherd-Dog.jpg or a Rottweiler http://www.top-dogs-names.com/images/rottweiler.jpg and make sure your have a complete gate at the front of your property before you get yourself a dog.

I hope they do catch the idiot who did it. We just had some of the worst bush fires here in Australia, and half of them are believed to be the work of arsonists!:nope::stare::stare::stare::nope:

See the thread here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=150393
he is 9 months old now, and was asleep with us in his kennel in the bed room.
the way the house is arranged the bed room is about 80 feet from where the car was parked.
the dog was asleep with us and never heard a thing.
We have been keeping him in the back yard right next to where the car is parked... however i just last week re-soiled and seeded the yard for grass and i didnt want him back there in the dirt. - otherwise he would have been out there and heard them for sure.
