I havnt played silent hunter in months and i just finished my 2nd patrol today and hauled in 86.000 tons. It was my first convoy attack and it was amazing. The first 3 torpedoes i fired destroyed a tanker and crippled a C3 to a halt. I was sitting in the middle of the convoy and attempted to take a shot at another tanker but i fired too early and it skimmed past his bow, passed a C2 and then magicaly hit a Clemson Destroyer right in the startboard bow. It didnt even explode, it was moving so fast his pipes over loaded and he made a nose dive straight to Davy Jones:arrgh!:. Then took a shot from 800m on a tanker that had previously taken 3 eels and sunk him. After which is surfaced and got into a deck gun battle with a trawler, sunk him with ease. I then judged who lived and who died in that convoy and rampaged through with my deck gun. In total 12 ships (2 warships, 10 Merchant). I used up every last bit of ammo. My crew earned 4 Knights Crosses, 16 U-Boat Front Clasps, and 10 U-Boat War Badges. Great for a second patrol. My first patrol i had sneanked into Loch Ewe and bagged me a Fiji Cruiser and Tribal DD.

I have a few questions though. I am currently running a VIIB (2nd Flotilla, Stationed at Lorient) with a compliment of full crew upgraded everything (engines, hydrophones, radios, batteries, flak) and i am very used to this boat. Should i save up renown for an IXB? It can go farther and deeper but they seem a lil sluggish compaired to the VIIB. :-?

What are the best Convoy Routes? My usual hunting ground is AM26 just NW of England. :ping:

What the hells are "SS Shells"?:06:

Where do I find big juicy ships like King George V Battle Ships? :D
