PELOSI: 'WE WANT REGISTRATION'; HOLDER: 2A WON'T 'STAND IN THE WAY'; SAF: 'GLOVES ARE OFF'

For Immediate Release: 4/8/2009

BELLEVUE, WA – Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on April 7 acknowledged that gun registration is on her agenda, days after Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters in Mexico that the Second Amendment would not “stand in the way” of administration plans to crack down on alleged gun trafficking to Mexico.

“These are alarming remarks from Speaker Pelosi and Attorney General Holder,” said Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb. “It appears that the Obama administration and Capitol Hill anti-gunners have dropped all pretense about their plans for gun owners’ rights, and it looks like the gloves are coming off.”

Pelosi’s revelation came during an interview on ABC’s Good Morning, America. While insisting that Congress “never denied” the gun rights of American Citizens, Pelosi told Roberts, “We want them registered. We don’t want them crossing state lines” Gottlieb noted that citizens’ rights do not stop at state lines.

“But that doesn’t really matter,” he observed. “History has shown that around the world, registration has always led to confiscation.”

In Mexico, according to the Wall Street Journal, Holder was asked if the administration might encounter constitutional issues as it tries to crack down on alleged gun trafficking. His response: “I don’t think our Second Amendment will stand in the way of efforts we have begun and will expand upon.”

“These comments belie administration promises and Democrat rhetoric that party leaders respect the rights of law-abiding Americans to own the firearm of their choice,” Gottlieb said. “They imposed registration of semi-autos in Pelosi’s California and it led to a ban, but it certainly didn’t disarm criminals, like the convicted felon who killed four Oakland police officers last month. We know from Holder that the Obama administration wants to renew the nationwide ban on such firearms, but that won’t prevent crime, either.

“The administration and Congressional anti-gunners have declared war on gun rights,” Gottlieb said. “The press seems deliberately blind to the statements from Pelosi and Holder, who blame our gun rights for their incompetence in dealing with crime. More than 90 million gun owners haven’t hurt anybody, and they are tired of being treated like criminals.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org (http://www.saf.org)) is the nations oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 600,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control. SAF has previously funded successful firearms-related suits against the cities of Los Angeles; New Haven, CT; and San Francisco on behalf of American gun owners, a lawsuit against the cities suing gun makers and an amicus brief and fund for the Emerson case holding the Second Amendment as an individual right.

Well this is why we have a congress with 535 people and a supreme court so that one or two people's personal agenda is nothing to worry about.

Now if 51 members of the Senate and 218 members of the House tell me they have this same agenda, then I will start getting a little worried.

Even then it will have to get past the Supreme Court which seems to take the constitution pretty seriously.

One person in congress spouting their personal agenda? Not even newsworthy. :nope:

Have to agree with you man. She was a bored housewife in California, so one day she decided she wanted to be in Congress - not kidding. How the hell did she bully her way up to the top? Disgraceful.

Just so I understand this correctly, is Pelosi lobbying for all firearms to be registered?

-SMoney. If you have enough of it, you can buy just about anything you want, even political offices. The three witches California produced, Pelosi, Feinstein and Boxer. It is no secret that this state is uber liberal. But it is a feminized version of it, which makes it a social disaster. Even our gang bangers are feminized by evidence of wearing their pants around there ankles. I guess tough guys think getting punked is macho....????:nope:

There was a thing about this on '60 Minutes' last night. While they interviewed a gun-rights guy my ultra-liberal roommate called him some rude names. I asked him why. He immediately shut up. He likes to voice his opinion, but as soon as I try to talk to him he loses all arguing power. What am I doing wrong? How can I get him to actually debate me on this?:-?

Pull a gun on him?

When cars get registered, why not guns. Debates like this remind me of somebody taking literal the great feeling of wide freedom and wild adventure that comes from using a certain aftershave that seems to promise for some to activate the hunter's genes in male mankind, not to mention greater success with the ladies. "Takes more than combat gear to make a man, takes more than a rifle or a gun, confront your enemies, avoid them if you can, a gentleman will walk but never run..." ;)

Can we trade roommates? Mine won't debate either but I can't get her to shut up long enough to present an argument. Evidently, I am a "machine" because I served in the armed forces, so my opinions don't matter.
For those of you who recall it, she is also the one who caused me to post that bizarre music video a couple of weeks ago for a commercial survey on the premise that it was "fun". The opinions and arguments of people on this board don't matter to her either because we are all militaristic, or "war-lovers" as she puts it.
What a brilliant argument! We all play submarine simulations and other wargames because we love killing people! Why didn't I see it before?

Any side of any issue suffers from these kinds of people. Unfortunately, they tend to be very numerous and very vocal. The worst kind of idiot is one who knows that they are right, no matter what.

Pelosi was born in Baltimore, Maryland. The youngest of six children, she was involved with politics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics) from an early age. Her father, Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_D%27Alesandro,_Jr.), was a U.S. Congressman from Maryland and a Mayor of Baltimore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayor_of_Baltimore). Her brother, Thomas D'Alesandro III (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_L._J._D%27Alesandro_III), also a Democrat, was mayor of Baltimore from 1967 to 1971, when he declined to run for a second term. Pelosi graduated from Institute of Notre Dame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_of_Notre_Dame), a Catholic all-girls high school in Baltimore, and from Trinity College (now Trinity Washington University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinity_Washington_University)) in Washington, D.C. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington,_D.C.) in 1962. Pelosi interned for Senator Daniel Brewster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Brewster) (D-Maryland) alongside future House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steny_Hoyer).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi#cite_note-0) She met Paul Frank Pelosi (b. April 15, 1940 in San Francisco, California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco,_California))[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi#cite_note-1) while she was attending Trinity College.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi#cite_note-2) They married in a Catholic church on September 7, 1963. After the couple married they moved to New York, and then to San Francisco in 1969, where his brother, Ronald Pelosi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Pelosi) was a member of the City and County of San Francisco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_and_County_of_San_Francisco)'s Board of Supervisors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_of_Supervisors).[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi#cite_note-3)
After moving to San Francisco, Pelosi worked her way up in Democratic politics. She was elected as party chairwoman for Northern California on January 30, 1977. She later joined forces with one of the leaders of the California Democratic Party, 5th District Congressman Phillip Burton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Burton). And in 1987, after her youngest child became a high school senior, she decided to run for political office.
Pelosi is a board member of the National Organization of Italian American Women (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Organization_of_Italian_American_Women).[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi#cite_note-4)
Pelosi lives in the Pacific Heights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Heights,_San_Francisco,_California) neighborhood of San Francisco.
You're a dope.

I believe that gun control has been on the Democrats agenda since the election. You can bet your bottom dollar they are going to jump on it if and when the opportunity presents itself. I do not want anymore gun control than we already have. However with every police officer worried about having to confront an armed criminal and the media reporting every incident that depicts guns in a bad light, I'll be damned if I can come up with a reasonable argument. My only hope is that the Dems won't try to push it through because the country is just about evenly split half being Republican. I hope all the Republicans who voted for Barak are happy. I have no doubt that he will not stand up to congress for our rights to bear arms. :shifty:

Gun control was barely an issue in the election, it's not come up in any legislation, and the Supreme Court just last year ruled on the 2nd Amendment.
Why should it come up now? The President, at least, has made it clear that it's not a priority for him.

Obama may be dumb but not THAT dumb.

The supreme court will knock down almost any new gun control and it takes insane amounts of political capital that Obama does not have right now or will have.
