I went to the site, but it appears to be in Finnish. Does it say if it has an option for english subtitles, or if it is being released for DVD region 1?

edit-@ Firewall- User edited subtitles or real ones?

Actually, Tali-Ihantala 1944 is pretty crap, atleast compared to other finnish war movies. The acting is very bad at times. Sad, as I expected this one quite alot.

Here's one you might want to check out:

Talvisota (Winter War)
- Hands down the best finnish war movie, with solid acting and no romantic BS. Kinda reminds me of Saving Private Ryan and the BoB series in terms of it's realism and the way it shows the war. Should be available as DVD with english subtitles. Be advised, that the U.S. release is shorter, atleast that what I heard.

Thanks Dowly, will surely check this one out too. Hopefully tomorrow.

Well Tali is not so bad.. However yeah I miss some specific spice in it..

Anyway this movie at least not freaks me out, like that happened watching norwegian movie Dead Snow. I was prepared for horror, but received a good portion of lauhter :haha:

Downloaded. Will watch it this evening I guess. Strange I always thought that there was only one war between Finland and Russia in the begining of WW2. Bloody Stalin got thirsty for blood again in 1944 ?

Well actually there were three wars, at least. Winter war (Soviet aggression against Finland), Continuation war and Lapland war (Finns drove the Germans out). Continuation war is maybe the most controversial from a Finnish point of view since the Finns could be seen to be the aggressors. Lot's of debate still around as to who was guilty of what. Tali-Ihantala was a part of Continuation war. Haven't seen the movie but I've heard that it kinda sucks.

I think this is a swedish movie, but set during the war, with soldiers fighting for Finland. It's pretty good, from what I can remember of the DVD, there were english subtitles.

It's a finnins movie I think. Swedish volunteer recon group thingy, pretty good actually. :yeah:

And like OTH said, there was 3 wars: Winter War, Continuation War and Lappland. WW was a pure defensive war from our part against the soviet aggresssion, CW was more of an counter-attack, alot of finns refused to cross the Finn-Rus border as they didnt want to be an part of an attacking force. And then the LW where Finns where forced to drive the germans out to Norway.
