These pics are lovely!
I've always been a dog person, but some of the bigger breeds scare the dickens out of me. German sheperds in particular.

Why the name "Gunner"?
I'm just curious.
Wow!:DL
Sure glad the kids don't grow that fast. You'd be changing diapers one night and they'd want the car keys the next.:timeout::o

well we were thinking Gunther... it was not official yet though and we were thinking we might get sick of him having a german name all the time just because he is a GSD so in a moment of mispronunciation "Gunner" just stuck.
plus being a pilot i had wanted him to have an aviation sort of name but the wife and i couldnt really agree on anything aviation related - but if you think about it... world war two bombers were filled with "gunners"
so... there you have it :D

Arrr tis a fine looking beast. I sure wouldnt want to be on the recieving end if it ever got territorial! :o
He's a beaut GoldenRivet :yeah:, Alsatians are beautiful dogs, just keep an eye on his hips as he grows older, they seem to be the weakest part of the Shepherd.

dead asleep :D
i miss the days where he used to sleep all day long... now all he wants to do is play.
he has a toy box... he runs and gets a toy and plays with it for a minute and sits it on your lap for you to play with him.
if you dont play he will drop the toy and go get a different one. :haha:
he has a lot of personality... when he is playing and it is bed time and i point to his kennel and say "go to bed" he will look at me and then walk toward his cage and give that characteristic groan like "Awww man"

Between this thread and Jason's McBee tribute, I really miss my German Shepard, Rommel. We had to put him down because of complications from hip dysplasia.

Putting a loved pet down is a very hard and tragic decision, but one that clearly demonstrates our love and concern for our pets.
Still does not make it easier :wah:
