U-Boat addon reactivation problem

Hi Skippers!
After reformatting my hard drive, reinstalling SH-4. patching it to 4_1.4 , I ran the U boat add on that I purchased a long time ago and had been using.
When I tried to run the game it wanted what it called a "serial #" Well I had kept the original activation key and when I entered it I got this error message: Activation FAILED: unknown error.
Well I went to direct 2 drive re downloaded the add on, used the key they gave, which of course was the same one they originally gave me when I purchased it from them, and after reinstalling using the new download, it failed as well. I did turn off all firewall protection as they suggested and still no joy. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the u boat add on working. The support at direct to drive is just automated mindless responses. I need a real human being to help with this. (What a weird concept!)

Argh, I can only offer moral support which I realize is basically worthless, but the same thing happend to me last week. I've had SH4 since it came out, but never played it as when I got it I quickly realized my pc wasn't up to scratch for the level of eye cnady I require. I just put it aside and basically forgot about it. I only just recently installed it for the first real time last week even though I had upgraded my pc last summer.

I checked out the patches as I was completely ignorant as to what was the latest and saw ya had to buy 1.5. I did the same as you (D2D) and had the same exact issue.

Strange thing was it did end up working after about the 3rd or 4th try so I can only assume it was a firewall/security software interference issue for me at least. Either way it was real pain.

Hope you get yer situation resolved post haste.

I don't remember how I did it either. I just did a reinstall but didn't delete the registry entries, so I didn't need to put in any numbers. But just a thought, did you try the SH4 CD Key as the serial number and then the activation code D2D gave you. The SH4 CD key is on the back of the book. Might be worth a try. I am assuming only the Uboat Addon came from D2D, if I am reading it right.

Yes the addon came from D2D. I haven't tried the cd key though and I will give that a shot. I didn't have to use the cd key for SH4 to install though I will see if I can find the book. I donut use the u boat part as much as I use just the regular SH4 pacific part so its no big deal it just frosts me that something I have paid for doesn't work as advertised especially when it did at one time.

I think it wanted my cd key then the unlock or activation code both of which I correctly supplied and now I get the message: server error-wrong serial number or invalid serial number or some such garbage..
Well, I entered correctly the cd key on the Manual and entered the code they supplied but no joy. Its too bad you cant talk to a human being on the phone at support.
Oh well I still like the pacific part and I still have that.

Am I correct there are places for two numbers? If so did you try them the other way? I remember when I did it, it was a bit confusing because I don't think it ever asked for "Activation Key" which is what they gave me. But I just can't remember what I did.

Yes there is a place for two numbers, I will try them the other way. I think I did it right but it is confusing. Is it possible to by the darn thing on a CD that has a CD key on it so we wouldn't have to go through this crap. We could just reinstall using the CD key on the box or whatever.
I have almost given up on it. Its sad that even if I re bought it on D2D it still wouldn't work. I wish I could talk to a real human at D2D.
