Hi Everybody,
I don't find manual aiming very easy so I sought a compromise. Torpedoes run best on a straight course, angles can be quite inaccurate, so the target lock and fire method is not satisfactory, also all shots hit (or miss) in the same place.
Heres what I do, at about 3000mts I use target lock, then turn my boat until the torpedo angle is zero. At this point turn off target lock, do no move periscope or TBT. turn in the direction of target movement then wait for him to come into your LOS, fire, placing your torpedoes where you want them to hit. It works every time. Give it a try.

Actually as long as you have calculated you angle on the bow(AOB) correctly, calculated your range not quite as important unless you are more than 1500m away, and target speed, the most important component of your solution, your topedo solution will be very reliable. I have been manually targeting w/o WO assistance for more than 3 yrs now and without being precise, I can safely say with certainty that I have around an 80% hit rate.
