View Full Version : INVITATION: For Silent Hunter fans everywhere

Graf Paper
03-26-09, 12:43 AM
We cordially invite everyone to our ComSubsPac Silent Hunter Community Members Meeting.

The meeting will be hosted by our administrators at ComSubsPac on our TeamSpeak server. Present members, along with representatives from The Grey Wolves and the SH3 modding community, will also be there to answer your questions, hear your ideas, and give you the opportunity to make new friends.

We are more than happy to help with any issues such as how to host Silent Hunter multiplayer games, using mods, and installation problems. Ideas for what you'd like to see in multiplayer missions, best times to host games, and promoting the Silent Hunter games are also welcome. Or perhaps you're curious about upcoming releases?

Don't have any questions or ideas for discussion ready? Then just kick back and enjoy the company as we all get to know each other better!

The meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, 29 March, 10:00 PM U.K. time (GMT +0) (5:00 PM EST U.S., GMT -5) and will last for one hour but you're welcome to hang around longer if you like. We won't kick you out the door. :03:

If you already have TeamSpeak, you're halfway there. Don't have it yet? Go to www.teamspeak.com (http://www.teamspeak.com) and download the TeamSpeak 2 Client.

Once that is done, simply go register at our website, www.comsubspac.com (http://www.comsubspac.com), and log in. Our TeamSpeak server address is listed on our Members' Homepage.

Sign up today to reserve your place at the table as we do have limited space on our server.

This will be what we hope is the first of many such get-togethers and all the devoted fans of Silent Hunter 3 and 4 are welcome to join in for an evening of community fun. :woot:

Looking forward to seeing you there! :DL

Sincerely,
The ComSubsPac Team

Great. I miss using Teamspeak where we all met to discuss issues in another sim. Will this channel be available 24/7? in the future? I used to have several rooms for different activities and or meetings. Look forward to getting some verbal help and meeting fellow Kaeluns in the Rathskeller!

As far as the time by zones in the U.S., they work out like this:

Pacific Time: 2:00 PM (GMT -8)
Mountain Time 3:00 PM (GMT -7)
Central Time 4:00 PM (GMT -6)
Eastern Time 5:00 PM (GMT -5)
Atlantic Time 6:00 PM (GMT -4)

Since the server is based in Ireland, all times given for scheduled events and games are given in U.K. local time (GMT +0).

I'm getting wound up for this already. It going to be a lot of fun! :yeah:

You'll first want to verify that the UK is on Daylight Savings Time. Recently, the US entered the same...

For example... most of the year the time difference between GMT and US Central Standard Time is 6 hours... but lately it has been 5 hours.

Thanks for the heads up on that time change, Kpt. Lehman. You're a good man!

Since owner lives in Ireland, I rely on him for that information in regards to local times. Ben Franklin should have lost points with St. Peter when he came up with the hare-brained idea of Daylight Savings Time! :stare:

SOOoooo.....

Will this mean the times are all bumped ahead or back one hour? :06:

IMHO I suggest you get a headset with a boom mic. Very inexpensive these days; I use a Labtec LVA 8550. Flying, we found a boom mic produces clear speech. When using a regular microphone background noise however small, can cause issues.

Playing a sim with headset produces IMHO an incredible experience with surround sound more immersive. I have the Logitech 5 speakers and the rumble box on the floor but prefer my SONY headset.

(I wonder if anyone uses Skype? I have that and use it for international conversation and it works well and is free.)

Sounds like a good piece of equipment. How much are we talking about in US dollars?

PappyCain
03-28-09, 04:19 PM
My set has to be 10 years old now.

I see plenty of similar models priced under 20.00 USD. Mine is stereo and has a volume control on the cord with mic on/off switch which can be valuable when in air combat pulling hard manuevers - I tend to grunt a lot (LOL).

I suggest getting a stereo model from whomever. You will want both ears grabbing the stereo. It is a head trip.
