When just floating in middle of the sea, is there any chance i will move? or is it a mod for it maybe? Got the idea when i was looking at a map that shows this current.

It would be incredible slow moving if there was any present....but...just an idea. It could be a lucky break for a unlucky captain. Different thermal layers and all. Wrong place at the wrong time the water current would push the sub upwards to the surface while several destroyers looking for you.

Nope, not in SH4.

if you havn't plotted a fixed course you'll drift off course in a storm/heavy seas

Yes, you will see your rudder moving 3 degrees left or right depending on which way you are drifting after you have started your plotted course. Kind of like auto pilot.

On a 'global scale' drifting at 3 or 4 knots may as well be sitting still :|\\

I hope future naval sims include currents to some degree. A one knot side current adds up to a fairly large course deviation for a ship traveling at 10 knots (like 6 degrees). Over a thousand mile passage, that puts the ship 100 nm of course. No small error.

Didn't Leo simulate currents and drifting in his early work of "Living Breathing Ocean"?

Here's the thread. Brings back alot of memories. RIP Dave.http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119064&highlight=Leovampire

I nearly spilled my coffee when i read your signature :har:

Maby you should cross the word edler/noble out of it ...

To be honest, assassin would rather fit, in my opinion. But thats far well another story :)
