where convoys are born and die?

..anybody has followed really a convoy to harbour?... i have tried, but never see if the convoy dock into of the harbour or not... i dont know if the convoy departure from into the harbour... or spawn suddenly at some Km. from harbour.

someone has had the patience to follow them?

There have been many posts from people that have seen convoys disappear when they reach their final waypoint.

Convoys will not spawn in front of you however if you are within approx 50km of them.

I don't know of any convoys that go all the way into a harbour before disappearing.

Well, when a mommy shipyard and a daddy shipyard love each other very much, you get ships! And when there are enough ships, you get a convoy!:D

Yes and some of them dont make it because of these things called U boats... Thats how they regulate the population.:yep:

Convoys hit thier final way point and vanish.

In real life?
A convoy would break up and go to thier final port.
Not every ship in a Convoy was destined for the same port.

As long as they made the trip to the break up point?
All was good for the most part.

Some of this break up is scripted as coastal traffic.
You'll never see a Convoy form in SH 3.
As Jimbuna stated above.
To close to a spawn point?
No spawn takes place.

It's just strange to me you would prohibit watching a unit appear
out of thin air.
But allow watching them vanish into thin air.
It's a Tesla thing I guess.

I guess the other thing why you woun't see any convoys spawning to close to your position is to prevent the spawning of the ship on top of your u-boat.

Hmm... well at least in GWX's Black Sea campaign they _do_ go all the way to port and stop there without vanishing :hmmm: Maybe not all, but many nevertheless...

Not sure bout the convoys but single ships some of them are vanishing some of them are not. Depends on were they marked "delete at last waypoint" or not.

Like Jim said, they dont spawn if you're close.
But what if they reach their waypoint while you still have them in sight?
I had a strange experience a few months ago which i believe it has something to do with the waypoints.
I was just south of Ireland and i spotted a convoy.
It was morning, the convoy was heading towards me with 8knots so i decided to go to 50m and then periscope depth for the attack.
And i wait and wait and wait and wait. The hydrophone line was always drawn on the map. Until i got bored and surfaced. The convoy was sitting a few kilometers away from me, motionless in a perfect "Convoy" formation.
I approached, sunk one or two of them but still they were reported us unsunk on the map. Just a line at the sinking position and nothing more.

That will also prevent spawn camping: Setting up at a known spawn point and shooting as soon as they appear.
