the manuals don't say, I can't find anything in the help menu in game. I've tried searching this forum, but for some reason it seem like the first few pages in every thread have disappeared. Like, i'll be on page one but its really like the 4th page in the thread. I guess that's another problem im having :-?

Anyways, How do I set my torpedo depth and detonation type? Im sick of lining up a perfect shot only to see my torpedoes run underneath the keel of the target.

Periscope view the panel on the left. There is a button on it wich changes the panel. Hope this helps.:know:

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Yep, on the left on the "position Keeper" panel with the target angle and ownship depiction dials, you will see a slider swith at the bottom left of the panel; up indicates "Position Keeper" which is the default postition, and down indicates "Settings" or something like that. Flip that switch and you will bring up a pair of dials to set spread, depth, detonator (contact or contact/magnetic), and speed.

Thanks for the info! I've figured out how to set angles and such, but I now have two additional problems:

1. The torpedoes are still running underneath the keel of my target, even though I have the depth dial set to the absolute minimum setting possible. It doesn't seem like they're going any shallower than before. I have them set on "contact" detonation. Am I missing something? All I'm doing is adjusting the dial. Is there some kind of "send depth info" button I'm supposed to hit after adjusting the dial before the setting change takes effect?

2. The torpedoes I have set for "contact influence" are not detonating when passing directly under the enemy vessel at absolute minimum depth. I'm assuming "contact influence" means they detonate when they come into close proximity with the target. Am I wrong?

If it makes any difference, the specific scenario where this is occurring is the "Sink Ensign Parker" Objective on the Live Fire Torpedo Trial in the New Construction 42 Campaign for TMO 1.6.3

Thanks!

you have to select your tube first, if you set it and then switch tubes its back to default settings again, it will keep those settings if you dont switch tubes though but its a long wait to reload,

A quick hint on how to get through the "Ensign Parker" mission:

I spent ALL my torpedos trying to hit the ship, to no avail. :wah:I'm on automatic aiming (I hate trig. and that's what the XO is for anyway!)
to get targeting solutions but I mess with the detonators and speed as required.

If you go to the surface, man the deck gun and SHOOT the #$%% out of Ensign Parker, you pass the mission! (worked for me, anyway). Unloading a few clips of AAA into him is good practice too.:yeah:

After that it's all plain sailing and you'll be assigned to a patrol base after a couple more walk through missions and then the fun REALLY starts!

That's what I've been doing, selecting the tube first and then setting it up, and repeating the process for each tube as I launch them. They just run right under him, and the "contact influence" torps aren't detonating even when directly under the enemy ship.

My worry is this isn't just an issue with the ensign parker mission, but an issue i'll be having throughout the game. SAVE ME!

With TMO you will also get some low runners, even set to the lowest depth, but at that it shouldn't be many....but I think Web has the main answer for ya.

Well, I'll take y'alls word for it that It won't turn out that way on patrol.

Thanks for all the help guys!

You need to re-set the depth and speed when re-loading a saved game. The game puts all the torps right back to the default setting when you load a save.
