Just been wondering... does the mission objectives you can set-up via FMB work in deathmatches?
Was just thinking that this map could easily be modified to different scenarios.
1) Put a static convoy to the channel, defend objective for the red, destroy objective for the blue. Set timer to something like 30min or 45min. And redirect the bombers to attack the convoy.
2) Same as above, but with airfield(s) as objectives.
3) Same again, but now london. Put cars inside the houses, so the game notices when bombs hit the target.
etc. etc.

was wondering too about the possibilities with this moving dogfight mod.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1068126#post1068126
ideas like small missions with the objective to sink a capital battleship with enemy fighter aircraft patrolling the area and having other AI ships going about.

Well, this should be interesting. I'll try to make it, and why not since this evening should fit a lot better than tommorow :()1:
If you've played Serious Sam, it's kinda like that. Wave after wave of enemy bombers that you shoot down.

So the client needs the mod aswell as the server, I'll get it and put it in.

Cool flights tonight. So I can go to the movies tomorow. (if theres anything good running.):yeah:
(and my school had early release.):D
Not 100% sure if I can make it. Gonna take a short nap now, f:yawn:cking tired.

I'll try to be there if I'm not playing Empire Total War again. I also have one request, seeing as how IL-2 is lacking in proper bullet strength and considering that most British fighters used the .303 caliber round, could we have the limited ammo off? Unless we can use the cannon armed version of the Spitfire and Hurricane.

03-19-09, 11:46 AM
I dont mind. (never have flown with unlimited aamo.)lol:hmmm:

Arr! Fly a real plane, like the Blenheim!
Anyway, the Spitfire Mk. Vb is flyable with cannons I believe
Kptlt. Neuerburg
03-19-09, 11:57 AM
The reason for having unlimited ammo is to compinsate for the lack of the .303 machine guns armor peniterating power, and the lack of an ammo counter in most allied fighter aircraft.(Unlike there German counterparts)
Task Force
03-19-09, 11:58 AM
yea. the spitfire vb does have cannons.
Kptlt. Neuerburg
03-19-09, 12:13 PM
yea. the spitfire vb does have cannons. Thats true but I prefer the Hurricane over the Spitfire as the Hurricane can take more damage the the Spitfires could. I also think that some people give too much credit to the Spitfire than the Hurricane, when you think about it there where more Hurricane squadrons than there where one using Spitfires.

That's true, but I also believe that there is a cannon-armed version of the Hurricane in the mission as well

I think we shouldn't touch the ammo.
Air victories are something you have to fight for and it is important to aim at the right spots. Switching to unlimited ammo would just lead to trigger happiness and a constant stream of metal, even more unrealistic than the weak performance of the guns. It is possible to down German aircraft with this armament. In real life the British didn't shoot down 3 planes per sortie. Learn to be satisfied with one.
I mean we are playing a simulation and not a ego shooter.:shucks:

I mean we are playing a simulation and not a ego shooter.:shucks: I do agree that air kills is something that a pilot should have to fight for. In my offline campaigns I've been using the AI mod from AAA that makes the AI use realistic dogfighting tactics and the AI will use very trick in the book to try to mess up shots, try to make you overshot them, ect, ect. In the campaign I'm in now the highest number of enemys I've shot down is 11. I use real-life tactics make by real-life pilots to get my kills. But I suppose it is also one personal preferance that counts as to how one plays a game.

Fly on a public server for a change and you will see that those fancy AI manoeuvres are still pretty lame compared to what a real pilot can do.
;)
In the campaign I'm in now the highest number of enemys I've shot down is 11.I hope not in one sortie.:o
Most of the time real pilots returned with no kill at all.

Most of the time real pilots returned with no kill at all. Yes I shot down that many in one mission. I keep a record of my kills to see if I can beat my old kill record of 357 Russian planes. Mission Number 51, Intercept, Kills 11, A/C Types LI-2, PE-2, YAK-1. 6 LI-2 killed, 4 PE-2 killed, 1 Yak-1 killed.

Unlimited ammo...
Kptlt. Neuerburg
03-19-09, 02:15 PM
Unlimited ammo... Got that right. But just because I use unlimited ammo don't think you still have to be a good shot to down an enemy plane. It still comes down to where you are, where he is, and whos faster on the trigger when it counts.

I pobally going to figure myself out with this Moving DF mod
to make some small missions with objectives, instead of battles like this.
like Convoy attacks, harbour raiding, airbase raids.
with formal flying (groups, groupleaders etc), not like this take off and shoot away. I think I will rename this thread into something else as soon I'm able to figure out how those DF mission making will turn out.
HunterICX
The DF missions seem to be just craploads of bomber flights with different start times. Prolly best to make a coop mission, atleast that's sure way to know that the objectives work.

I'm going to make my own DF missions
the problem with Co-op is that you cant do refly, which bugs me with missions like Convoy attacks..your never able to have another shot at them ships.
this Moving DF Mod somehow can simulate RTB refuel/reload and go at them again.

Saying that it was fun. I bagged three tonight but only got killed once.
Went on a rhubarb mission and tookout those that had landed till my engine got pranged. Still I managed to make it back and land fine.
I think this would be good tied in with something from the FMB to make a coop.
It sure beats dying and having to wait. This take off, shoot, land & refuel and fight again seems more like what they did back then.

That was fun for sure, I agree. Don't know about the longevity, but doing it once in while doesn't hurt! I have to start looking at those connection problems though: I lost conns two times tonight. What's even more strange it only happens with IL2. For example Arma works just fine.
Fun :03: thats all it was for a kickabout flight..not my cup of tea though, A few of you already know im not into this kind of dogfighting..taking off going on a shootfest till you get killed or bail-out or whatever, then hitting refly..but i'll hang with it till we decide on an alternative.

I comleted the Bigginhill campaign, 18 sorties...29 kills  a lot of cross channel flying involved, few sorties you dont even see a bloody seagull :03: some would say its boring, but i liked it. Pain in the @ss when you fly 10-20 mins to get over the channel and then the 190's/109's spawn theres hundreds of the B*s****s and you get your @ss whupped.:wah:

Sounds like fun. I dont mind the uneventful missions, heck, I can keep myself busy for a long time just flying around in the P51 (gotta love the new sound I got for it *drool*).
Things were pretty quiet over Bigging Hill today (apart from the bombers that flew to London), only 2 Ju88's bombed the Airfield. I think I got 4 kills, one death and lots of engine's shot up.
First attack on the enemy bombers. See, I hit him smack in the middle of the cockpit, no effect.

It seems to allow for a more fluid constant war going on around you.
