I have technically been in business since November 22nd, however most of November and December were start up months in which i got the place more or less prepared for the Spring Flying Season.

So far this February to March I have a rental pilot roster of 11 pilots 4 or which are full time students (full time = flying 3+ flights per week). The business is doing well, better than i had expected with the recession - which has not hit East Texas very hard thankfully.

The aircraft utilization has increased from just a few hours of revenue in December to a whopping 20 hours in the past few weeks... March will likely close out with over 35 hours on the aircraft.

The purpose of this post really, is to celebrate a first major milestone for not only one of my students, but a major milestone for my flight school as well... our first - first solo!!!

Kyle Johnson, a paramedic and owner of an occupational health and safety business, completed his first solo flight yesterday evening on March 16th 2009 at approximately 6:00pm!

I have two more students who will likely be going on their first solo flights within the next week or two as well.

"every journey begins with a single step."

a toast to many more first solo flights! :()1: (after the flight of course)

He can run but he can't hide! MWAHAHAHAHA

Anyway. congrats, good to know some people are being thought to fly without the belief that landing safely is thoroughly overrated

I'm glad to hear that your school is doing so well, GR. I had hoped you'd be successful when you first mentioned it to me at the meet, but I had no idea things would come together so quickly.
My most heartfelt congratulations and wishes for future success to you.:salute:

Thank you sir!

"gotta make hay while the sun shines", I'm anticipating a big slow down after the summer season is over, so im working hard while there is work - and i consider myself very fortunate.
