So how's things?

Things are good thanks. I am thankfully still employed, survived a ski adventure yesterday with the kids (their first and my second) and while sore, I can still move. Can't complain at all. How about you?

Snow skiing, right? Sounds fun! I've never been myself but I'd like to try someday.
Glad you have your job, though. I'm close to being laid off but it hasn't happened yet. I'm single with no kids and I've been saving for a rainy day so I should be fine.

Hmm..... Bringing the queen out a bit early are we?

Black 2) Nb8-c6

How many kids you have?

Yes snow skiing. I only tried it once before and that was years ago in the alps - I had always wanted to be able to say I had been able to ski them - I had partial success. I can now claim to have fallen down them rather skillfully!

I have 2 - a boy and a girl. They loved it so we will be going back next winter a few times I suspect. Might also help get me into a shape other than round. :har:

This summer we may take a couple of water ski excursions. Over the summer my son first rode a kneeboard. He is small enough he can up on it if you hold the board for him and then just pull him slow. Still - its a start, and great for building his confidence!

Sorry to hear you have a layoff pending. I hope its temporary or opens another opportunity for you, my friend. You were very wise to plan ahead so that it doesn't devastate your situation. For what its worth, I will keep you in my prayers. If things get better and you can try a snow adventure - do it. I am barely ok on anything more than a beginners slope, but its a BLAST.

As for the queen coming out early - yea probably is too early. But I learned to play aggressive.

Thanks for your prayers, CH. Let me know when you ski again and I'll keep you in mine:DL Things are going to be ok, though. I work a union job for BNSF RR so even when I am layed off I continue to accrue retirement and seniority. I'm actually kind of hoping to get downsized for a little bit so I can take a month or so off.

Btw, nice post in that "Afghanistan" thread. It's a far cry from blowing up Mecca and Medina:DL

Well I had to try.

4) Qf3-c3 /

As for the Afghanistan post - Thanks. How to deal with that situation (a distant country with various factions and problems) - vs an attack on our own soil against innocent civilians - is a big difference.

I am glad to hear your covered - see this is one of those good points of the union that Zach was talking about! What would you do with the time if you got a month?

I am glad to hear your covered - see this is one of those good points of the union that Zach was talking about! What would you do with the time if you got a month? Oh, you don't even want to get me started on that. As rewarding as my unionized occupation is, I loathe it with the utmost intensity, for many reasons. I'll tell you more if you want to know, but it could be a long post, perhaps better discussed via PM since it would distract from the match.

To answer your question about what I would do with the time, the answer is ; not much. I just want a break from my liberal co-workers. And you don't want to get me started on that, either. All I can say is that they have no appreciation for the forunte they enjoy in working for this company.

Sorry for the little rant, there. Your move?

PM away - or post what may be relevant to the discussion in the labor law thread. I always look to hear what the real deal is when it comes to things like that. I honestly don't know the good and bad on things from the inside of a union - my view has always been outside. So rant all you want.

As for getting away from all your liberal co-workers, I am blessed in that regard. Mine are spread throughout the landscape - from hard left to hard right to independant and libertarian.

Might wanna move that knight back....

Feeling bloodthirsty, eh? I intend to win the hearts and minds of your troops. Or spleens and livers. You know, whatever pops out first:DL

Lance, Lance, Lance... you know me. Bloodthirsty? Come now - All I did was suggest blowing a few cities off the face of the planet and everyone turns into a critic! :har:

Nice try yourself by the way - little adaptation of napolean's gambit I see. :yeah:

Sorry I cant let that happen. You have the center - for now.

UnderseaLcpl

Thanks.I didn't even know Napoleon had a gambit, let alone that I was emulating it:oops:
Still, you probably should have blocked f3 with your knight like I did with f6, because now you're in check.

8) Qf6-h4+

We'll do some swapping after this, I promise:DL

CaptainHaplo

Oh I am sure we will - though not like you expect perhaps. Then again - you may!

That's gonna put you in checkmate with qh4-f2, isn't it? Are you sure that was your move?

CaptainHaplo
03-17-09, 10:33 PM
Aw bloody heck - I am 0 and 2 now. Well played. I made the move - I live by it. Good lord I am not doing well - good game though! :yeah:

UnderseaLcpl
03-17-09, 10:40 PM
Thanks for the match, CH! No worries about the little blunder, there. I've made more than a few myself and I got a chance to practice openings and early gameplay, which I desperately need.

If you ever want a rematch, I'm always up for it. :salute:
