Battlefield Online?

Haven't found any other information of the game, but I take it, they're gonna make a big online game of the series.

Yeah, there are two Battlefield games on the way. that we know of. Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield Bad Company. So that's enough, right? EA's and DICE's whistles are well and truly wet, right? No. No, no, not even close. Speaking at GDC paris yesterday, DICE's Ben Cousens has said that the company are working on a further three Battlefield titles. One is a "core game" for consoles. One is a secret. The other is a collaboration with Korean company Neowiz, targeted at the region's online market. That's, you know. Five Battlefield games in development. Never let it be said EA don't know how to make the most of a franchise.

In June of last year, we heard that there was a new Battlefield game in development (http://kotaku.com/5019086/three-more-battlefield-games-coming-one-for-korea) for the Korean market. This is it. It's called Battlefield Online (http://kotaku.com/tag/battlefield-online/), and will be out later this year. Built on the Battlefield 2 engine, BFO will pit US forces against Russia in a Middle Eastern setting, with up to 64 players supported at any one time. And...that's about where the details end, because EA and local team Neowiz are playing stingy with the announcements, promising to drip-feed stuff like unit info over the next few months.

Its actually 3 new Battlefield games - Battlefield 1943/Heroes and Bad Company 2. All can be found in the UK edition of PC Gamer, and are looking good.

BF: Heroes is taking beta sign ups, good fun for a free game.

The charactor customization is good fun also, my guy is a Pirate hat and Monocle wearing soldier in brown/grey camo.

Battlefield 2 still reins supreme for me, bf2142 was ok but found my self going back to BF2 after a few months. BF 3 better be like BF 2 or it will suck :O:

Aye, BF2 is still a great game that I play occasionally. Especially enjoy Dragon Valley as a sniper, some great moments I've had in it. Enemy snipers usually go on all out hunt for me, just to meet my claymores or the cold steel of my knife. :rock:

Havent tried it yet, the sign up page was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW when I tried to join in. :shifty:

EDIT: Seems to work nicely now, downloading/installing now. Look for a baldy called Dowly (Already found one flaw while naming the character, you cant have names like Tittenhoff or Tittymeister :nope:) in the field! :yeah:

Righto, played for half of a round or so. This definitely tries to compete with TF2 and I must say it was great fun! It's fast paced, the players can take quite a bit of damage before they die. The sounds are great! Laughed my arse off when a burning brit ran past me screamin "OUCH OUCH OUCH!". :har: The tanks dont seem to be the usual kill-it-all death machines which is always nice. Graphics were nice too, very similar to TF2. Just too bad there was no planes in the mission. :down:

Ow and getting into the game was pain in the butt. It seems that you cant just go to the folder, find the exe and click it, it wont connect. Instead you have to go to the BFH's site and click the big arse yellow "PLAY NOW" button, which then checks for updates and launches the game with no problems.

IMO, this is a great possibility for EA to get atleast a tiny bit of respect back from the players, but I'm sure they will mess it up with something like "Give us 10€ and you get this gun that shoots polar bears that then proceed to kill every farking one in the map, making you the best player of the server".

I'll be waiting for the full thing alot, had very good time crashing a jeep to a Sherman and trying to run like a sissy away from the tank. :O:

You clearly were on a long trip to Mars. Dowly is the new official reviewer here at Subsim , and his analysis is far superior to those quacks at Gamespot and IGN.

EDIT: I think I might clarify this abit. I dont review games nor do I wish to. Reviewers play their games with and open mind and all that poo. I play my games, remember what I PERSONALLY didnt like or did like in it and might just say it here. Anyone who decides whether to buy or not a game based on my "review" is stupid.

Let's take an example, Men of War. It plays pretty similar as Soldier: Heroes of WWII. And that's what I didnt like it, it's too similar. And add the bad voice acting (if a company cant hire proper voice actors, IMO they arent really trying to make a good game) and few things, it sucks in my opinion. But for someone who doesnt care about the little bits (points at Stabiz) enjoys the game.

A second good example would be ArmA, as a 'new game' I'd give it maybe 2/10, but it's fun to play, it has almost nothing new compared to OFP, but it's great fun in multiplayer. And with that, I can forgive alot of the singleplayer faults it has.

It's alla about personal opinion. Some like that type of games, I like others, and what I have to say about them, is 100% my opinion.

True, your opinion is unbiased , and that's exactly why I read your reviews. Because there are rumours that some of these reviewers at gamespot and IGN are actually paid to do a decent review :)

Anyway, those remarks of mine were clearly over the top and not intended to be taken seriously. Meanwhile, post some screenshots of BF ONLINE or make some videos :) .

I actually recorded everything from my first try on BFH, but sadly, my FRAPS has been FUBAR for quite some time now. The output is crap, stutters etc. etc. so I deleted the recordings.
