Running 1.5 w/ latest TMO. Was operating fine, now getting the message "Cannot initialize 3D engine" when trying to load.

Tried to restore system to a previous restore point and none of my restore points will work.

I uninstalled, cleaned the registry, and reinstalled. Tried to load the stock game and still get the message.

IL2 Forgotten Battles loads, as does Falcon 4 Allied Force.

What kind of problem do I have? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Update your video card drivers

Sorry for the edit......upon the first read, thought you said you could NOT load Falcon..... Whatever the problem, wish you well.

The advice to update drivers worked. Although I have no idea why a perfectly stable install decided to go south on me, updating has got me back in the game. I haven't gotten my old missions successfully loaded yet but that is just a matter of getting the files in the right place.

My past experience with updating drivers has left me with the attitude of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I know that isn't the best course, but the old Falcon 4.0 install dance left me so burned out on mods and updates that I frankly gave up on a lot of good sims...

Seems however that I will get the chance to get sunk some more...!

I had the same problem with "cannot initialize 3D engine". I was messing around one day in the DIRECT X DIAGNOSTIC TOOL and had disabled Direct Draw Acceleration and Direct 3D Acceleration. I had forgotten to enable them so the message popped up when I started SH4.:damn: Something to check next time anybody gets that message.
