I started SH4 with TMO 1.62 I'd finished 4 patrols by Oct of 42 when 1.63 came out. So I unloaded 1.62, loaded 1.63, and started a new career. My first career was out of Pearl, and I had the USS Drum. My 1.63 career (different captain name) had a couple patrols complete out of Guam. I got all the messages to shift base to Fremantle.

I made it all the way back to Fremantle, saved just before entering port, then entered port and called it a night. 2 days later (now) I reloaded that save and put to sea, not paying any attention to the sub until it loaded.

WTF??? I'm in the Drum, out of Pearl, in March of 42! That ain't right.

I loaded the "autosave on entering port" - put me at Pearl in the Drum. Still not right.

So I loaded my save from before entering port. Hooray, I'm back in the Salmon, with my 1 poor lonely torpedo left. But wait... Fremantle is no longer my home port. As a matter of fact, I have NO home port. None of the anchors anywhere are tilted. Do they hate me that much? Am I destined to become the next flying dutchman, cruising the seas with no end in sight?

The last message in my list tells me to shift base of operations to Fremantle. I guess I'll go in and pound on somebody's de

Well, never mind, I guess. When entering port this time it asked me if I want a new sub. I said yes, and now I'm at Pearl again.

Really getting the message now...

Reloaded my 'enroute' safe from the new mission on the new boat out of Pearl. Mission would load right up until fade to black, then a crash to desktop.

So back to plan Z: Deleted every single saved mission in the world. Started a new career with a different name, April of 42 out of Fremantle. Let's see how well this works.......

If 1.63 changes something that affects the sub layout, operation, or campaign then it will crash to desktop using a save that is not in port. This may not happen every time you enable a MOD but you can usually count on it happening with some. Always enable a new MOD in port and you will not have any trouble.

Availibility of new construction subs for Fremantle that will keep you there in the TMO.

Balao 07-01=43
If you accept a boat before those dates then you will start from Pearl. These dates are from the flotillas.upc file and may be changed for other MODS.

I see. I forgot to read the fine print. In any case, I just started a new career. Can't wait for radar to show up again.
