I have a Yamato BB on a perfect solution and impossible to fail. How many torps will I need to sink it? I'm pretty sure that 4 torps will not be enough so I need tips to put the 4 torps on it and then maneuver to pu the rear torpedo tubes in a firing solution.
thanks

Well at 65,000 tons it was the largest warship in the world at the time. The Japanese invested a lot in these ships. It shouldn't be a pushover to sink. ;)

Get your boat in a position to where you can hit him with all 10 tubes. That should do it most of the time.

You won't be able to rip it apart, but it is certainly not "unsinkable". Having loaded NSM4, I managed to sink a Yamato with 5 Torpedo hits.
Not knowing what/if any mods you have loaded, I'd try to get two hits on any gun turrets and the other two hits in the aft section to damage engines and/or propellers.
It won't sink it right away, but should slow it down and the gun explosions look heart warming.:sunny:

Well I decided to attack a Ise class BB instead, this and two Furutakas, two Maya and one Naka class are now on the bottom of the south China sea :D

It's definitely sinkable, but even with 10 torpedo hits not properly aimed, it has a good chance to steam away.
What's needed are secondary explosions so aim below the turrets, plus hits near the funnel to slow it down.
Once in a campaign I hit it 10 times and she was away, in a test mission I set up i could sink her with 10 torpedo hits - but the Yamato was only steaming at 5 kts so I had plenty of time.

Any tips as to torpedo depths, when going for the turrets / magazines? Not just for the Yamato, but ships in general.
I kind of miss that SHIII feature that told you where you put your torpedo and aimed it for you... Wasn't realistic, but DAMN! Was it satisfying to break those boats in two with a bunker hit.
