I was playing Silent Hunter IV today and I discovered something strange with the game. The depth charges only launch from the side of the Japanese destroyer instead of being launched out of the stern of the ship in a basket cage where they should be launching from instead of launching the side of the destroyer. The depth charge barrels also don't disappear after being launched out this basket on the stern. Is there a way to fix this oddity? It's very odd and strange behavior I noticed.

On my system (Vista) everything looks good.

Before others ask these questions. What system are you running? Graphics card? What version SHIV? What mods if any installed?

And ain't the destroyer firing his K-Guns or Y-guns instead of the DC racks? I've seen a few times where the enemy only used these and completely forgot about its DC-racks.
That'd explain it since the K & Y guns launch the DCs from the side of the ship.
If your ship hasn't got these 'guns' I'm afraid you've got a big bad bug.

I'm running Silent Hunter 1.5 U-boat missions with RFB 1.5 installed.

The destroyer also has erratic behavior when it runs over the ship. The screws tend to start and stop and cycle over again during the attack run on your submarine. They start and stop instead of constantly running at slow speed like they should. In real life, the destroyer screws would run constantly, instead of starting and stopping like that. If you did that with a real destroyer, you'd damage the engine and the screws.
I lose the hydrophone contact after listening to the destroyer too, when in reality the hydrophone operator should be able to track the destroyer by listening to the screw noise, for example.

Yes, they are as a matter of fact firing from the K or Y-guns instead of the DC racks/

you have a corruption in the mod or the game or both, uninstall rfb and check, if they work then you need to delete rfb from mods folder in jsgme and replace it with a fresh copy from the zip file or redownlod it. if its still messed up without rfb then replace both rfb and the entire data folder in your programs directory or uninstall and reinstall the game.

@Patchman123

The EDD in my signature that I was aboard experimented with sonar homing head torpedoes that were shot off the starboard and port sides and when they hit the water this ship MOST certainly stopped her engines as the torps were listening and although there were no live war heads on the torps we would still have to count a kill if those torps hit our DD anywhere and made a "thud". Good thing the batteries on those torps were only good for one hour or we would have been setting all day. :-? After the torps batteries were exhausted the torps would float to the surface and release yellow dye and a small craft designed to pickup torps would do just that, then next day we would start all over. :damn:

We ran with a submarine with in two/three miles max under water not knowing just where she was at. Her job was also to fire "Dummy" sonar homing equipped torps at us and again our sonar would pick up the subs torps on the run toward us, skipper would order "All Stop" and the torps would stop, float to the surface and wait until some body turned on the screws and "Thud". :arrgh!:

So it did not hurt the engines nor the screws aboard are EDD nor did it on the sub we toyed with.

But that was life in 1956 and DD's in the 40's did slow,stop,slow,run,slow,stop any time they were in a hunt.

BTW that sub's skipper was slicker that our skipper for on the third day of a sea trial about 3 pm ( off east coast of Florida ) we were cruising along about 15 knots when all of a sudden thud....thud.......thud all on the port midships.:damn: I am REALLY glad those torps were dummies.:D
