In my humble opinion, Demetri and the boys at Akella are the best Russian Game Developer currently producing games.

I worked with them closely when they did Age of Sail 2 back at Talonsoft/Taketwo in 2000/2001 and thought they would go far!

Thier upcoming release of PT Boats: Knights of the Sky is a game Demetri has wanted to do for a very long time.

We wish them luck and continued success!

Sincerely,

Jim Rose

PS: If you ever run into Demetri, have him tell you the stories about when he was crew chief on a Backfire Bomber!

PT Boats: Knights of the Sky? Sounds like a crossover of their recent crappy naval shooter and a flight sim.

No it has already released in Russia to somewhat mixed reviews, the devs are now working on an English version, fixing the bugs in the Russian release and also developing an addon to the game. An Australian retailer lists the release date as 13-03-09, I dount it's that close but we should see it soon now.

According to some of the Russian forums I have read the devs are holding the patch so they can incorporate the latest version of Starforce into it.

It stops no one. Not me, not the neighbor, not the 10 year old kid down the street - not even for 5 minutes.

I'm not sure Akella realise how much Starforce is detested in the naval sim community outside Russia. At one time I started a "Will you buy PT boats if it includes Starforce" poll on the official forum to try and highlight the situation but hardly anybody filled it in. Hopefully Starforce has changed for the better since the days of SH3, the loss of massive customers such as Ubi may have made them alter their product.

Anything that gets its protection by replacing your low level system drivers with its own version has not changed for the better. It is not only a risk to your hardware, it is also a security risk.

I won't buy a sim with any Star Force product on it. No trust left for them, regardless. Too bad, might be a decent sim by the time they work it up for release in the U.S.

I was trying to say - it won't stop anyone from pirating the game if they wanted to, so it serves no purpose. We buy games we like. This is preventing this. So I have to agree with you, it stops me as well.
