Man, I bet the average American could tell you the second one.

Jawohl herr Kaleun

"Jawohl hërr Kaleun" means "yes Captain (Kapitanleutnant)" as far as i know.

Yes Sir would be "Jawohl"(as it is an acknowledgment...a military acknowledgment?) but, i think it was standard in the german armed forces answer to the rank of the person giving the order.
I mean... a schutze would answer an oberleutnant by saying "jawohl hërr oberleutnant"

I think he needs audio tho.

Nothing Captain - Nichts, Herr Kapitaen (Kapitän) as the rank is Captain

The Captain of a U-Boot was a Kaleun, therefore it should be "Nichts, Herr Kaleun".

Yes Sir - Jawohl! or Jawohl, Herr 'Rank' (it works/worked without the rank too)

Do you need the audio files too?

Jawohl alone works too? even if it's a sailor dressing an officer?
I'm just saying it because as far as i know, in the EA (Argentine Army) a bottom echelon soldier will address a lieutenant as "Sí! mi teniente" (yes, my lieutenant)

also, a U-boat commander wasn't necessarily a Kapitanleutnant.

We Germans don't like our officers so much, they keep on making trouble.
In the Federal Army it doesn't matter what rank your superior has, it stays a "Jawohl, Herr (Rank)" from Feldwebel up to Bundespräsi. If the one you're adressing is from your TE (Teileinheit - squad or platoon) and it's not a stress-situation (combat, dressing down or some high ranking bug is there) a "hmmm" or a nod might also be sufficient.

Yes I need the audio files. So I guess it would be Nichts, Herr Kapitan and Jawohl Herr Kapitan.

I wish to use these audio files for my movies.

Thanks. PM for me for my email address.

I can order a beer in German. Would this help? The head start program. We also learned to ask where the train station was in German? So when I am in Germany I can find a train station and order a beer. :yep: Plus they have McDonalds. :DL

Hello Rob,

in case you need audio files I can help you out. Tomorrow I have access to my micro so I could record some samples. But I don't want to get in the way of your agreement with Mittelwächter, so you decide if you need the samples from me.

Regards
Mr. Fleck

Hello kranz,

the translation for "Marking nearest merchant" is "Nahegelegensten Frachter markiert" and for "Marking recommended target" he says "Empfohlenes Ziel markiert".

Cheers!

How be it that you do:

no need to be sorry, i was just wondering and trying to help :)

maybe you even had a reason for it to be like that (like some sort of "stealth ship" made of [liquid] water... allowing sonar pings to pass through it :rotfl:)

I just want:

Nothing, Sir!

And I already have that.

Apparently I made a mistake, according to others.
A Captain is in command of a surface vessel.
The commander of a U-Boat is Kaleun.

So, could I impose on you to send me new speeches.

"Nich Herr Kaleun"
and
"Yes Herr Kaleun"

I hate to be a bother, but someone might realize the difference and critize.

Could you send audio files for Nicht Herr Kaleun to my email address.

Or just Nicht Kaleun which makes it shorter and will fit my vids.

actually some commanders had the rank of Korvettenkapitän, others of Oberleutnant zur See... maybe the best way to go (if you REALLY want it to be realistic...)

is either choose a rank for the commander (Kapitänleutnant would be a good choice... enabling the use of "Kaleun") or using "kommandant" witch means "commander", not the rank but the "duty", as in "the commander of the garrison".

I'm sorry... :wah: I'm an accuracy freak when it comes to movies  i can't avoid it...
I'll refrain from posting on this thread from now on. :dead:

Good luck.

Hello Rob,

in the package I sent you there were both included: "Nichts, Herr Kaleun", "Jawohl, Herr Kaleun" and the same with Captain. So you should have them already.

You also asked for "Nothing on hydrophone". The guy on the hydrophone would probably say: "Keine Horchkontakte Herr Kaleun".

I will record this on Wednesday, when I have access to my gaming computer again.

Does anyone know which one it is?
