I dont bloody belive it,everything going fine,4 careers going well, just upgraded one career from a typeIXB to a C,so thought to myself, get a new career with a typeIXB going.Did this with Sh3cmdr and ran a couple of patrols and everything seemed fine, added some mods and ships to my roster, great. Now tried to start one of the old careers and get a CTD just as it should go to "not so long ago" bit,Kernel.dll is the culprit as bloody usual, fire up Sh3cmdr and what do I see A ROLLBACK BUTTON:damn:Even though in the options section its set to automatic rollback:wah:how the hell did that happen:06:so I'm now left with out of 5 careers just 2 which will load and work:nope:is there anyway I can get the other careers back working?Im absolutely gutted, all those weeks and hours of hard work gone down the pan, there must be something I can do,any ideas kaleuns:hmmm:my sanity is in your hands:-?

?Check the personnel files in your "My Documents" and see what is left. While you are there, check the Sh3 folder and see what is in it.

Hi nikbear,
You've had more than your fair share of CTD's.
I'm wondering perhaps you got the "rollback" because of the CTD stopping SH3Commander from performing the task at that time. On restarting SH3Commander it found it hadn't done it and so was reminding you.
Look in SH3 Commander for a folder called !BACKUP, in there is placed all the original files that have been overwritten by SH3Commander, If it is empty then your O.K.

All the folders seem to present and correct, nothing is missing, although, the 2 careers that are not working seem to have 2 folders for each kaleun, the only thing different is a _ inbetween the name:06:is that normal:hmmm:

I don't know whether to be happy or sad,the !BACKUP folder was empty:06:

Look in SH3 Commander for a folder called !BACKUP, in there is placed all the original files that have been overwritten by SH3Commander, If it is empty then your O.K. When SH3Cmdr loads SH3 it also loads a small TSR file that monitors the status of SH3. This TSR file recognises when SH3 closes (amongst other things) and will, assuming that the option is selected in SH3Cmdr, auto roll back SH3Cmdr. It then kills itself.
It does not matter whether SH3 closed normally or by CTD; SH3Cmdr is smart enough to know what to do and will clean up its files gracefully in either event.
HOWEVER, if the user:
1. runs auto shutdown software that closes running processes (ie FSAutoStart or similar), or
2. reboots their computer while SH3 is running
the auto rollback will NOT occur.
In this event, any files that SH3Cmdr copied into SH3 will remain until the user reopens SH3Cmdr and either a) manually rolls it back (by pressing the arrow icon) or b) reloads SH3 (by pressing the tick icon). SH3Cmdr will clean itself up then.
So nikbear, check whether 1 or 2 above apply to you and if so, there's your problem. If not, then I can offer only two other possibilities:
1. in much the same way that upgrading GWX can cause earlier careers to no longer function, installing new mods can do the same too. Your problem may simply be a case of the new mods "breaking" your older careers. Perhaps disable them and try again?
2. You mention extra save folders with _ in the names - this is certainly not normal. Perhaps you have fallen victim to SH3's random save problem (maybe even in conjunction with 1 immediately above)? On this one I'll defer to others who know more about the problem.

Thank you to everyone for they're help and advice, much appreciated:salute:Two strange things I have found out trying to cure this problem,1I have started to use Manos Enviroment modpro, enabled while in dock for every career, yet if I disable it the careers that fail, suddenly work again, but the ones that work don't anymore:damn:yet when it was enabled in JSGME the first time all boats where in dock and everything worked fine, until I started this new career, something about starting this new career has screwed with something that was fine before, and for the life of me I can't think what?2,the careers that don't work have 2 folder per career, they are josef bartels&josef_bartels also walter scharke&walter_scharke,as JScones mentioned, this is not normal but how on earth did it happen and do I need to delete one,or what?I'm totally confused by the whole thing:doh:
