I ended up taking an unplanned break from SH3 for about a month. I'd think about playing it but not really feel like it. Today I decided to start playing again, and I wish I hadn't stopped in the first place. :salute:

I just killed my crew. :wah:

The year was 1939, and we were on our way to our patrol grid. We were passing through Scapa flow when I decided to take a sonar check. Picked up two ships both heading in our direction. One to the north and one to the south. We went after the one to the south first due to it being closer and killed it with two torpedoes. Started to turn around to get at the one to the north when I realized it passed us already. I gave the order to flank speed and we came up behind it. Told the men to man the deck gun and we made short work of it. Was heading out at flank when my watchman reports an enemy warship coming our way. I take a look and realize it is a destroyer. I order periscope depth and then take us down to 51meters. It passes over us once dropping depth charges, even though it was directly over us none of them hit. We changed course and it temporarily lost us. 30 minutes later with it depth charging away from us I think we're out of the **** storm. But I keep us under water and silent running just incase, waiting for it to get dark before I submerge. Somehow it found us again and went to do a depth charge pass again. This time we weren't so lucky. Took damage through out the ship, and flooding in the Forward torpedo room, the diesel and electric engines. I try to take us deeper, but end up running into the ocean floor like an idiot. I get warnings of critical flooding in the Torpedo room, but I dont want to risk having the destroyer find us. So I sat there on the bottom of the ocean floor and ended up sinking due to flooding. :rotfl:

Do you want a Death Card? If so post your SHIII commander profile to the DID thread.

But sometimes it takes taking that break for the retake to take effect.

I'm currently on about a 4 month break now. :wah: I guess I got a little burned out, but I'm starting to feel the itch in the palms again. My 6 y.o. son is even asking me when I'm going to play my submarine game again.
I bet when I do get started again and update to GWX 3.0, I'll get that loving feeling again, much to the chagrin of my wife.:yeah:
