Not saying France is bad, I love France, but interesting read. Of course, I'm not a fan of top heavy socialism.

California is in a French-like bind: unable to afford a welfare-type state, and unable to overhaul it. "The people say they want all these programs, then there's nothing they want to pay for," says Hector De La Torre, a Democratic assemblyman. "The schizophrenia in the legislature reflects the peoples'."

I dont hate France, I love France, it is a beautyful countr. It's just the french people that ruin it. - Jeremy Clarkson:rotfl:
I like France and I like the French people. My country exists today because they backed us up with their money and their blood when nobody else on earth would.
Vive Le France!

We would have been in a world of hurt if we did not have Comte de Rochambeau on our side.

And Admiral de Grasse. All of the above is true.:yep:
It's still fun to make jokes though.
If we makes jokes about the French it's only because we love them so. Teasing ones friends (sometimes called "ball busting") is practically a national pastime.

Absolutely right. It's a form of cultural expression here, the same way surrendering is in France:DL

Look who's talking!

Amen, and all the French I've met on my trips to Paris were wonderful.
Paris was decent. And the people were very nice folks there. And so was the countryside near Aussaguel. Cannes and Nice were a bit different though but I suspect that I was running into alot of snobby tourists there. No offense intended, but I was ready to go home when the time came. And a tear nearly came to my eyes as I looked down and saw the amber waves of grain, and purple mountain's majesty of my good ole' USA.
I enjoyed France, but I have no wish to live there. And unfortunately, politically speaking, California is heading down that road. California is beautiful, but I'm sick of government intrusion everywhere I turn. You should see what I'm paying in state income tax, and the ridiculous luxury tax I'm paying on my boat with these Democrat socialist scumbags in the state legislature. Friggin jerks!!
