See the thead post a couple of days ago re Ship Length PDF.

Someone needs to inform us of the proper lengths for the boats in stock game vs. RFB and TMO. They need to provide the correct ship lengths for all ships added by those mods and for any ships whose lengths vary from the lengths of identicial ships in the stock game. I formally and respectfully reguest through this post and my earlier post and thread that they do so. (Otherwise, no date for any of you with Barbarinna's [the preoccupied young lady ridng the torpedo] sister, who is on the far right of my signature and is interested in a Commanding Officer who is not adverse to partying. [That ought to get them moving!]

I must respectfully disagree. The aspect ratio method of measuring AoB could not be used during the war because the information necessary to use it was not available. The majority of surface ships were not in the ONI manual and the many warships were constructed in secret and their exact dimensions unknown to sub captains. I have not found a single instance of the aspect ratio method being used in World War II. I would counsel any modder not to release such information. Fortunately, that is not necessary. Ducimus is banned and Luke feels like I do.

I see your point. It does make sense. What about Hitmans's tutorial on maual targeting at 100% realism. I guess we toss it out the window after the stock game?

To show you how accomplished I have become, I attacked and sank a U.S. tanker moored outside of Pearl, anchor down, and dead in the water. I was 2 for 6 out of my bow tubes and 0 for 4 from the stern tubes. I was shooting from 2,000 yards, and my boat wasn't moving either. I also rammed the tanker twice, and one of the times my boat almost landed on her deck. I even got a few hits from my deck gun, which finally reappeared after a multi week absence. After we got free, my crew tossed me overboard. I don't understand them. The USS Gar, SS206, is making history!

If the US did not know the lengths of certain IJN ships, what is the point in have the TDC for manual targeting? Hitman went to all of that trouble for nothing? I would still like to have the ship lengths. Otherwise it makes Hitaman's TSAC v2.1 useless, as ships' lengths are required to use it. And, aside from helping a captain understand the aspect ratio for manual targeting, his tutorial on manual targeting would be of no use when encountering a ship with no known length. Also, the makers of the RFB mod had to know the ships' lengths to set up range finder/aspect ratio for amual targeting. I doesn't seem right that they use the information for that purpose and then not disclose ships' lengths.

For the purists, they can guess at a ship's length if it is not reported in an Ship Identification Manual. But for me, I would like it and find it useful. The RFB team may ignore my request, but I will not withdraw it until I get a satisfactory answer to the question posted herein.
