I'm planing on getting SH4 + U-boats [...] through Steam.

I was wondering if anyone who has done that has had any type of problem while installing or running Mods, because, lets face it, that IS the MAIN reason I'm getting it.

So... well that.

Steam does not interfere with the game itself nor does it add, check or replace game files, except for the automatic patch which you will have to do manually if you had bought the boxed version of the game. As such, mods should run with no problem on Steam games, SH series included.

but... is there a *reason* for that? or is just personal preference?...
i know steam is supposed to keep the game "up to date at all times" and that could interfere with mods.

the problem is..
at Direct 2 Drive i could get the game (+ U-boats [...]) for 27 dollars, but, and i quote "This bundle is only available for purchase in the United States, Canada and Mexico."

and where i live... I'd have to pay the whooping amount of 145ar$ for SH4 *alone* then I'd have to add U-boats [...] witch would probably mean an extra 50ar$... that, in dollars would translate to... a little less than 65 dollars.

now, if i get it though steam I'd have to pay a little over 27 dollars.

See what I'm getting at?

I doubt that Ubi is going to release another patch for SH4. Download the game, run it stock a few times. When it lets you play without downloading anything, you're patched up. Install whatever mods you want now

as far as i know... Steam checks the game files to make sure everything is in order, and tries to update if it is not... I don't know if the game will run (as steam has the habit of running when you try to execute one of its games) if Steam doesn't give the "green light" because it has detected a major mod.

i don't wanna sound mean, (mostly because i appreciate that you are trying to help me, all of you) but... this might... and i apologize. :timeout:

But I'd appreciate that some one who has actually downloaded it via steam answered me... and if no one has done it... then... then I'll just wait and think...

I should have mentioned. I used steam to download SH3. Currently running GWX 3.0 and no problems. Just keep your game in the steamapps folder and you should be okay. Make a backup first though, redownloading is a pain if you need a clean install

i won't download it right now tho... I'll wait until certain mod is released and kill "Ivans"* and "Jerrys"* at Red Orchestra in the mean time :salute:
