Since when were submarines of WWII clean as a whistle ? no telltale smoke left when they operate (in game) on the surface ?

Missing...

The individual operation of engines.

The ability to 'bridge' dead battery cells.

The ability to call for help.

Meetings of friendly units for 'welfare' swaps.

The necessity to manage ships stores.

Sea sickness and other illnesses.

Colums of smoke from other ships. "Stacks on the horizon !"

Meh the list goes on and on but diesel smoke is not at the top of my list.

But if you need diesel smoke it can be had as mentioned above.
